Hiya,

I have been experiencing some bleeding and lower abdominal pain (at 12 weeks and now again at 14 weeks), the last scan I had the baby looked OK so we are hoping that is still the case, but no-one seems to be able to give me any ideas of what might be causing it.

I am just wondering whether there is anyone who had a c-section birth and then had any bleeding and/or pain in a subsequent pregnancy? I had a thought that it could be somehow related to the scar tissue being irritated or something like that? I can't see anytying about it onlin but thought if a few other people had experienced something similar then it might be a possibility

Cheers

I was definately more tender second time around, but I think I was further on than you are now, and had bleeding early on, but I had that first time round too so I didnt really bother with finding out about it

I would ask for more regular scans if I was concerned though, pregnancy is unnerving enough without wondering about something

As far as I've read, the only bleeding associated particularly with previous C-section would be related to Placenta Praevia (sp?), which can happen because of the scarring, though rarely. It wouldn't happen till third trimester though. Try not to stress, and like the last poster said, if you're worrid at all, maybe ask for a quick scan to be sure, it seems to just happen with some ladies for no sinister reason though. All the best!

Hmm I am more tender round my CS scar but while I have had bleeding every pregnancy it hasnt been to do woth my CS's. My first pregnancy I lost then with DS I had bleeding before 12 weeks and I then had him via emerg CS, got preg with DD, had heavyish bleeding before 12 weeks with her(was a pocket of blood under the sac) and had her via elective CS, and this one, I had some bleeding at 4 weeks.

Sometimes bleeding is just random and unexplained, try and not worry and I would see about another scan to ease your mind

If you are having bleeding in the second trimester I would be asking for bloods to be taken to check for an underlying infection.

Just to correct the comment by Guest - bleeding from placenta praevia can occur at ANY TIME during your pregnancy. I'm sure that if you've had a scan though they will check the position of your placenta (it's standard). If I was you, I'd be asking for a scan just to put your mind at ease ... bleeding in pregnancy can be very common and have no negative effect
