I've been absolutely amazed over the past 16 or so weeks just how different my pregnancies have been so far. Everytime I mention that to anyone, they say "oh, you must be having a boy this time" but I'm not really convinced.

On the one hand, there are 46 chromosomes to a person, any of which could be different to the ones DD has, not just the X/Y one.

But on the other hand, the sex will have some impact on the hormones released by the fetus, and I'm very much aware of how much of an influence hormones can have on how you feel! So maybe there is something in it.

I thought I'd do a very scientific Oh-Baby poll

So, lovely experienced ladies with more than one baby, were your pregnancies similar or different and were your babies the same or different genders?

Ohhhhh love this.

I also had very different pregnancies. Everyone told me id be having another girl that different pregnancies dont mean different sex. But i knew deep down it was a boy this time.

DDs pregnancy was very hard. Sickness whole pregnancy. Just very crap.

This pregnancy which is said to be boy is 100% different, apart from feeling tired in early pregnancy i wouldnt of known i was pregnant. Even now with a toddler its way easier than DDs pregnancy ever was. Finger crossed i havent jinxed it now

All three have been different, 2 boys, 1 girl. Although in saying that with both boys I just 'knew' they were boys, while with DD I really wasn't sure either way.

Mines been pretty much exactly the same and apparently I'm having a girl (though will be double checked at a growth scan at 28weeks) I think its very individual.
Kiara is 3 and Teagan is 2, now we're expecting our long awaited 3rd!

Both very similar pregnancies, very straight forward and not a lot of MS to speak of but both times MS has come back around 30 weeks.

I had a boy last time and am having a girl this time (or so I'm told!)

Interesting topic. I obviously have no idea yet what were having but this pg is very similar to my one with Jackson. The only real point of difference is MS was much worse this time and reflux started earlier.

Will be interesting to see how the rest of the pregnancy goes and what we will be having.

I had one of each, bad ms with DD, not so bad with DS. Had lots of different complications with DS. But overall, felt similar with discomfort and the way I was carrying etc and irritable uterus.

Completely different pregnancies and both boys. I was convinced under 20wks that because it was so different it'd be a girl.
At 20wk scan they said boy and I didn't believe it. I've had 3 more scans since then - boy boy boy.

Totally different pregnancies - and one of each - DD's pregnancy much harder, MS for ages etc etc. BUT also not sure how much of that is running after a toddler the second time round...?

This one seems very similar to me and we're having a girl this time.

Out of my 3 friends that are also pregnant with their 2nd, the two that are having boys again felt different and the one that had a girl first and is now having a boy thought she felt the same like me! All 4 of us guessed wrong.

Hopefully it's the sleeping gene that's different for you

My pregnancies were all fairly similar and I have 2 boys and 1 girl.

The only differences I can remember were I loved coffee with the boys, but couldn't stomach it with my daughter. And the smell of cooking meat made me nauseaus (sp?) with the boys but I didn't mind it so much with my girl.

Also I worked til 36 and 38 weeks with my boys but only until 28 weeks with my girl. This was due to tiredness - BUT I was also breastfeeding at the same time. I stopped b/feeding and work about the same time, and within a week or so I was feeling heaps better so it probably didn't have that much to do with it.

ETA: Oh and I had the metallic taste with my girl but not the boys.

Haha. That made me smile!! I hope so too

I don't mind either way, and don't intend to find out until s/he's born, I was just curious as to whether the theory held any weight. I guess it doesn't!!

Thanks ladies
