Topic: High BP Posted: 25 February 2011 at 4:29pm |
So at the mws yesterday my BP was 141/91 (my first appointment was 130/76 and my lowest has been 121/68 (not sure if they even matter but anyway) she said she would have another look at our next app in 2weeks time but she said just to keep an eye on headaches, blurry eyes and swelling.
Well when I left I throught to myself I had a headache pretty every day last week and I had one yesterday and have one now. I drink atleast 2.5l-3.5+L a day so its not from lack of water but I have been really tired lately so I just throught the headaches were from that.
So my Q is do you think I should ring my mw and tell her about the headaches or am I just been anal??

I would call. It cant do any harm, and headaches are an important warning sign with high blood pressure.

I agree with kiwikt. Can't hurt to let her know. It might just be random pregnancy headaches but you definitely want to be extra careful.

You should definitely let her know. I'm sure she would have told you to look out for other symptoms but just in case she didn't:
- sudden swelling of your face, hands or feet
- problems with your vision, such as blurring or flashing before your eyes
- severe pain just below your ribs
- a general feeling of being unwell
If you have any of these as well you should let her know ASAP.

I would let her know, I suffered from pregnancy hypertension (HBP) during my last pregnancy and was medicated for it, its really important to watch out for those signs indicated above, maybe go and have your blood preasure taken again even if its at the local doctors, two weeks seems a long time to wait in between

Definitely ring. High BP and headaches are a sign of pre-eclampsia.

My MW always told me to take panadol, drink some water and have a wee rest (if possible) and if the headache doesn't go away to call her asap.
So def call if you're concerned, it's what your MW is for

You should be able to ring your midwife and pop in to see her (or get her to pop in to you) purely to check BP if your worried.
Definitely let her know about the headaches, I had pregnancy hypertension also (High BP) and in the hospital was asked every 4 hours with it...
Also if you wake up with swelling is not good, and if you push on it (say on your ankles) and the dent from your finger stays a while then thats not good (it should disappear quite quickly!)
Definitely let her know, and don't be afraid to call her with any worries
