My DS just won't eat any veggies! He used to love them when we first weaned him but now he picks them off the plate or throws a wobbly if I try to give them to him. It worries me a little nutrition wise but he is getting lots of fruit at least.... He also isn't big into meat so I am wondering do I need to supplement him with any drops/vitamins for his iron levels.

Any ideas of how to get him into veggies?

This sounds just like DD.
Tonight I tricked her.....I made scrambled eggs with grated zucchini & carrot and finely chopped up mushrooms. She ate the whole lot.
I just couldn't be bothered fighting with her about it!

Jake isnt really into any veg, or fruit, or meat... makes meal times fun!

We still give him baby food from jar once or twice a week as there are a couple he loves and that way I know he is getting some of everything.

He is always given what we are having and gets a lot of praise when he tries something but at the moment all he will eat is carrots and occassionally peas. Loves his carbs though so eats loads of bread, pasta, rice, potatoes

He eats bananas, most of the time and sometimes apple.

Smoked salmon, ham and as of last weekend cheerios.

So a very varied diet *rolls eyes*

Will try grated veg in an omelette, hadnt thought of that!!!

We have a lot of casseroles, even in this heat and I mix the sauce through the carb we are having so I know he is getting the goodness from the meat and veg that is there.

Its so frustrating but patience is the key I think, just keep offering.

We have started going through the same thing. Meal times have become soemthing that I am starting to dread. DS doesn't like to eat fruit or vege now and even some meat as well.

I am going to buy some baby food from jars as well, even though I feel we are going backwards, but as Mel said, I know he will be getting a mixture of things. We keep giving him bits of fruit and some of our vegies in the hope that he will start eating them.

You could make some mini savoury muffins with grated carrot, zuchinni (sp) and corn in them.

Daniel LOVES his vege, we made it fun for him. We cut carrots into fans which was something he was really into and he gobbled them up

For us, we were offering too much fibre and got a better result when we cut down fruit, weetbix, brown bread

If he used to like them its probably just a phase, my DD went through this and I've heard its pretty common.... We kept going with it, but to be honest no matter what I did it made no difference to her... She would happily eat a whole bowl of frozen mixed veges though and carrots and red peppers (probably cause they are sweet) but nothing else unless I hid it really well. Its only been very recently that she will eat other veges again so it went on for about a year... Just keep trying him from time to time...

Definitely sneak it into foods. I make the boys corn fritters with carrot or peas or beans and so on all chopped up. There are a lot of such foods you can make.
I wouldn't stress about it as you'll just make it harder to get over this phase.
I get a good laugh when I am cutting vegetables for dinner and the boys 'insist' on eating them raw! I never offer them, but always munch on some myself and they are soon begging to have some. They love capsicum and carrot especially...

Offer veges for breakfast when they are at their hungriest. If they are attractively cut up, in small bits they might nibble on them.

Don't let them fill up on the stuff they like first!!!! You can dole out the meal in stages eg veges, then meat, then noodles which can help you prioritise the food input!

Grate veges into everything! I even put them in pancakes!!

DD likes certain veges but only if we feed them to her (which is a pain!) but she will eat the veges if i take a bit of time with them and make them fun: 'little trees' (broccolli) on an island and 'hedgehogs' (mash potato with bits of carrot sticking out) - that sort of thing.

I used to fry up a bit of liver (good source of iron), grate a little bit of it into something that she liked and then she would eat it. Freeze the cooked liver and grate a bit when she needed it.

I came across this site the other day, the concept may be slightly over the top, but at the same time some of their stuff is so darn cute!
Otherwise we tend to cook a lot of foods where everything is mixed in togerther (ie rice rissotto and pasta are favs!), and we find that we can put whatever we like in there, as long as it is chopped up small and the kids will wolf it down. DS especially can be a right pain with eating sometimes!
