Topic: Best maternity jeans? Posted: 06 January 2011 at 2:29pm |
I'm looking for some really comfy ones that still look quite dressy so I can wear them to work. Under $100 would be good too!
Any suggestions would be great!

Just Jeans have great ones, but not a huge selection. Really comfy though, witha big band at the top - i wore them heaps. No pockets, which I don't like, but that's not really a big deal.

I wore Pumpkin Patch ones...they were lovely and comfy. I liked the ones with the big stretchy band at the top but they did have a few different styles

I have been wearing my pumpkin patch ones almost every day, comfy, has a slight stretch in he denim to allow for sitting down, and the waistband is ribbed cotton with elastic inside, stretches like you wouldnt believe! But its also really supportive when I'm walking around, doesnt slip down or ride up like some with larger bands do. bought mine 2nd hand for $15, but if you go to any nearby outlets you should score a pair for $30-$50. Unfortunately theres no pockets, but I always have the nappy bag and/or a light cardi with pockets so hasnt been an issue so far

I got shorts from the warehouse for $10 (they had a small hole in the stretchy band that i accidentally put there when trying them on so they were discounted) and they're aces, though they stretched and are now too big and slide down all the time.
I got an Egg Maternity pair, probably spent over $200 on them at the time but i wore them from about 15weeks to current and they're bloody comfortable, and dark smart denim and a gorgeous cut. I love them so hard, i will be sad when i don't need to wear them anymore. Oh, and i only have two pairs of pants, this being one of them, so i've worn them nearly every day for the last 5 months and they're like new. Would probably be able to pick them up waaaay cheaper at an outlet store. I brought them 'new season' hence the price tag.

I struggled to find jeans that fit me properly so ended up wearing my prepregnancy jeans with a tummy tie (from belly beyond) for the whole pregnancy without a problem and cheaper than buying new ones.
I did find the jeans west ones comfortable they just didnt fit me properly.

Mine are from the Warehouse too and super comfy!!
I have a pair of size8 maternity jeans I need to get rid of if you are interested (if you are size 8 that is lol) - got them off TM for $12 when preg with DD because the auction said size10, but the label clearly says size 8 and they don't fit me they look to be in great condition. Anyway free to whoever wants them

Lucky for me my jeans fitted until 30 weeks (very stretchy!) but I always wanted a pair of PP ones or even the Warehouse ones looked fine.
I would shop around some of the maternity stores or baby stores for ones on sale.
Also you can get special attachments for your current jeans so you can wear them the whole way through...

Ditto the PP ones. Mine were a dark denim and I wore them for work the whole time through both pregnancies (including at a workplace that didn't allow jeans but they were smart enough I got away with it!). I also dressed them down with sneakers on the weekends.
They're these ones

Thanks guys.
Rachel, I'm probably more about a size 8-10, I tried on some XS PP jeans yesterday (that was the only size left) and they were too small, and weren't very stretchy. They had regular jeans waistband with elastic inside that you could alter but they felt uncomfy. Are yours the ones with the big band at the top?
Those special attachments for regular jeans, is that the belly bands?
ETA: Flissty, they look perfect! Hmmm all sold out apart from XS again! I get the feeling preg chicks aren't ever an extra small

No, that's sorta like a stretchy band. I tried finding a link but no success, basically it's just a piece of material that hooks onto your pants so you don't have to do them up as such but doesn't reveal anything... Surely someone knows what I'm talking about?!?!?! - will keep searching for a link or picture

These are the tummy ties that I used for my jeans.
http://www.bellybeyond.co.nz/shop/pregnancy/Tummy+Tie+-+Expand+your+wardrobe.html
Ive got the belly bands as well but Im using them for breastfeeding (to cover my belly), personally dont think they would be good for pregnancy as I find they ride up at that back, whether thats because I dont have a pregnant belly or not Im not sure.

So exciting that you're looking at preggy jeans LR! And you're almost through your 1st trimester already, where did the time go!?
Haven't tried any of the other brands but have to confess I splashed out on one pair of Egg "9" jeans (they have lots of different styles) and have lived in them ever since. Sooo comfy, wide band at the top, pockets, fantastic cut that makes even my legs look longer, look great rolled up as 3/4 pants too. Check out TM or keep an eye out for sales, as they're not cheap, but I reckon so worth it.
Can also recommend belly bands (got mine from Melon Bellies on TM) for using with any non-preggy pants or under tops that start getting too short as The Bump grows
