Topic: Too much walking... Posted: 29 July 2010 at 2:47pm |
Yesterday DS and I went out for a BIG walk. I think I/we overdid it as ever since we got home, he will not walk. He is limping and won't put weight on his left foot. He is crawling everywhere.
I thought I would see if he improves today but still not walking on it. Do you think I should take him to the Dr's?? It doesn't look swollen, it looks normal. I just hate going to the Dr's for them to send you home saying there isn't anything you can do.
Shall I take him or wait another day?? What would they do anyway?

Is he upset when he puts weight on it?
Does it seem to hurt him if you touch it anywhere or bend it at the joints?
If yes then I'd go and get him checked.
If no then I'd wait another 24 hours and see if he improves.
Hope he's ok!

Thanks CaraMel. No it only hurts when he puts weight on it. I feel so bad for him. Will wait and reassess, poor thing.

No blisters - at least if he did I could see them.
Still not walking on it. Will try to get him into the dr's today.

Good plan Pikelets, it does seem strange that he'd still be favouring it after a couple of days with nothing outwardly wrong.
Hope you get some answers and he's back to normal soon!

It maybe more of an infection (possibly in the bone) its actually rather common in toddlers. SO I would def get it checked out!
Probably not a break as he would be crying and screaming when putting weight on it or if you tried to move the joint. My son broke his leg around 23 months and you certainly knew about it

I walked for 3 hours in the wrong shoes once, and TOTALLY stuffed my foot. Could hardly walk for days, stabbing pain along the arch and top of foot. Docs couldn't see what was wrong, probably muscular and just rest . Hope your boy feels better soon, took me a few weeks though, and several months of intermittent pain if walking too far.
