At what age did your toddler stop drinking milk?
DD is 16 months and until about 4 weeks ago was a big milk drinker. I weaned her off a bottle after breakfast so she was down to one bottle before bed. I was trying to wean her off a bottle and onto a sippy or a straw cup but she has pretty much stopped drinking milk. I offer it every night and she drinks 20-30mls before saying no more.
I'm not too fussed, just surprised that such a milk lover has weaned so quickly. we didn't experience this when she breast fed as she loved that too!
Mine stopped wanting her bedtime bottle at about 17 months, so we switched it to a sippy and kept offering. She stopped wanting that too from about 19 months. So we just went with it and stopped bedtime milk altogether from then. She still has smoothie in the morning, and sometimes milo during the day.
Do you offer her a milk drink from a sippy during the day as well and she drinks that?
Maybe just keep offering her milk before bed and let her drink of it what she wants and she will probably just refuse altogether or will probably not even realise when you stop giving it to her. That's what mine did.
Good idea as I haven't been offering during the day but I might try as I need to keep her calcium up. I don't think she coped with the transition from bottle very well- if I offer her milk in a bottle she will drink it (but not all of it).
My little one is 21 months and is down to 1 bottle at night, During the day i offer him juice and water and make sure he has either some cheese or a yogurt to keep his calcium levels up. He has adjusted well and knows when he has his bottle it is bedtime ive only managed to get him down twice without it hoping he will slowly get weaned off it ive been offering less and less milk in his bottle each night. Compared to my 3yr old who is still very addicted to bottles and is reluctant to stop i think its just up to the child when they would like to stop.
My DD was about 14 months old when she refused milk. I started putting it into her sippy cup to wean her off the bottle.
She would happily drink water from the sippy cup but not milk. Certainly not formula and most definately not cows milk.
So we just thought, ok, well she eats plenty of cheese and yoghurt for her Calcium intake. Now from 20 months onwards she'll ask for a Milo. Happily drinks it in her sippy cup every morning and sometimes before she goes to bed.
I wouldn't be too concerned about it, as long as getting enough calcium from other sources. Maybe try a milo for her - hot and cold...???
