Hi,

Just curious what do you do in the day with your toddler?

I am not at home that much, but realised all we do is bumble around most the time.

Would like to get some ideas of stuff to do

Play dough, we find home made stuff best to play with and can make loads more with it.

Drawing - we got a couple of scrap books and we draw the things he loves in it and then he tries to draw them too. Its cool cause he goes and gets his drawing book and looks at it all the time.

We go find bugs in the garden and flowers and play with the garden sprayer (with just water in it) and he thinks thats hilarious.

Issy like to draw .. and read .. and help tidy

We also play "house" and she makes me cups of coffee and we eat baking that she had just made with her mixer.

She can also do things like mix the cookie dough and then she can help ice them too.

Elias just tends to like exploring .. so no real activities for him as such yet.

We are out and about a lot during the day too. I try and get out of the house at least once during the day, whether that's just to the supermarket or for a playdate with a friend or something.

At home Callum spends a lot of time exploring our front yard. He finds something new to interest him almost every day at the moment - climbing on something (scary! for me!), digging in the dirt, piling up stones, playing with the watering can... some days I sit out there with him and we play together. I have chalk and he is really enjoying drawing pictures on the path at the mo.

I've also just bought the coolest water/sand play table from ELC. You don't need to buy anything though, just a tub/big bucket and some cups/colander etc would be fun! We get stuck into that a couple of times a week if it's not too hot outside.

We're JUST starting to get into playdough and I need to get organised and make some so we have more than the two piddly little pots we currently have.

TBH we also have our fair share of bumbling around here too. I feel like ar$e still and am very lucky C likes to explore and entertain himself. I often go looking for him in the other room coz he's gone quiet and find him sitting in front of his bookshelf "reading" a book. Awww.

We read here, DD is forever bringing me books to read to her. She loves it. When i have finished reading her endless amounts of books in an hour i will sit next to her on the couch and read my book & she reads her book. Its good because i can get some reading done myself.

We also play outside, on the tramp, go to park. Roll/throw ball to each other etc.

We go out every morning and do playgroup, pram walking group, preschool gymnastics, preschool storytime and music at the library and cry baby session at the movies then usually a play at the nearby (free) pool.

When at home he plays with his duplo, little people and thomas tank engine and cars lots, but also does lots of drawing, playdough and outside play. He has a swing, slide and seesaw in the front yard but also rides his bike. He is majorly into books and has a stack of about eight that I have to read up to five times a day.

We do a bit of bumbling around when home too. Jake mostly plays with his cars or trucks/dumps/diggers (has ramps and a car mat etc) or balls / bats / cones etc (he kicks thows hits runs around cones, puts them all in a bucket etc) or plays with bikes outside. We also do water play outside (in a tub, with containers, paint brushes, bubbles etc) and have a slide.
The other toys we bring out include plastic animals, all the stuffed animals, tea sets/ kitchen stuff (he loves making us all cups of tea) and tools / workbench (he "fixes" things) and various blocks / lego tupe products, plus the baby toys (trains, stacking cups, rings).
When Morgan is asleep we also do some drawing (pencils, crayons, feltpens).

Morgan really just "explores" and breaks all of Jake's "line ups" towers etc. and tries to eat the playdoh / crayons, rip the books, throw or bash everything and take whatever anyone else has.

And they both like push along toys as Morgan can kinda do what Jakes doing (shes not quite walking). and we all read books (easier without Morgan around tho).

Every now and then I'll get Jake to help in the kitchen. Or paint (not often) a picture or use glitter glue.

We have outings 3-4 mornings a week - playgroup, babygym, playdates, supermarket, that kind of thing.

Afternoons are always at home so DD gets at least one decent sleep a day. When we are at home, DS for the most part just cruises around doing his own thing. He will happily sit and play with his cars and trains for ages. He's really getting into puzzles too so I get him new ones from the toy library all the time. Often I will dig around in the toy box and will unearth a toy that has been hidden for ages.

If it's a nice day, I fill up buckets of water for him and he plays with that in his sandpit for ages. He runs around the lawns kicking balls with the dog. We often go for a big walk around the property and next door looking at the pony and sheep. He spends forever riding his bike around. He sometimes does drawing, or we read books together.

I have a huge aversion to playdough, and lots of messy stuff is done at playgroup such as crafts, so we don't do much of that at home.
