Jonathan (2 1/2yrs) has always gone to bed between 7 and 7.30pm and pretty much woken up around 7am. Suddenly over the last few months he is waking at 6am or earlier. I am a single Mum with 24/7 custody and have never been a morning person. I find it makes a HUGE difference to my day to get that extra hour in the morning. Im making sure he's not too hot/cold and has eaten well. Any other suggestions?

I've had this issue with my toddler in the last couple of weeks. 520am was his worst and after that I decided it was enough. I got a sleep trainer monkey clock from baby city. When it was first suggested to me I thought it was a waste of time but no its not.

Monkey closes his eyes when you set it and then you have a time that monkey wakes up. You use this mechanism to teach them that when monkey is asleep.. they have to stay in bed. When its awake they can get up.

The first morning Daniel had major tantys over not being allowed to get up and I had to go into his room to put him back into bed a few times. The following morning I put him back into bed only once after explaining to him about monkey. And since then hes been great.

I have the sleep trainer monkey as well but J saw me set it and since then has learned how to get the back off and fiddle with the buttons so he undoes the settings. Im quite happy for him to have a tanty and lock him in his room but have a flatmate now and am concerned about waking him up.

Sorry I don't have any suggestions but will be watching this space. I'm having the same problem with Emily too. She used to be a 7ish riser, but since daylight savings ended she's been getting up earlier and earlier. Sunday morning it was 4:55am and she thought it was a great time to get up for the day! I'm not a morning person either. And having a new baby that's started sleeping though til 7:30 I really don't want her being woken up earlier than she needs to be so unfortunately leaving the toddler to tanty it out in her room isn't an option for us.
