Topic: Confusion and Posted: 17 November 2011 at 11:04pm |
Hi,
Possible first time pregnancy and very very confused!
The story thus far:
Overdue period, took home PG test and got a feint positive. Three days later same result at the doctor.
Blood test came back as HcG 13. Re-test ordered, but I started bleeding the next day. No pain, no heavier (or lighter) than a normal period and my boobs stopped hurting, so I just assumed it must have been a late period after all and wasn't even going to get the re-test, but did anyway - three days later - and HcG level was now 30. What?
I have continued to bleed for a few more days in exactly the same pattern as my normal period. Nothing resembling the M/C described online (and my sister has had one).
Now utterly confused as I don't have a midwive yet and also thought the HcG level should have jumped way more in three days if I actually was pregnant?
Stressed at the uncertainty and it's too early for a scan (just under five weeks).
Any advice?
:)

Sorry to hear you are going through this. It does sound like an early mc unfortunately. The hcg should have gone up a lot more for a viable pregnancy. I suggest going back to your Dr for advice.

Id ask for more bloods, they should give you an indication either way, I had a miscarriage at just over 5 weeks and was like a normal period, no extra pains or clots, whilst a mc at 7 weeks was heavy, painful and I passed the sac. Each person is different and if it was a mc, it would have been really early, probably classed as a chemical pregnancy?, and would be fairly normal bleed.
Good luck FX

Thanks guys. Will definitely go get another round of bloods just to be sure, but it certainly seems to be over :( Talk about a rollercoaster of a week!

Thanks so much Soda - that really meant a lot to me :) I had new bloods and a scan. Levels now back to 12, scan normal, but still bleeding and feeling a bit like I've been hit by a truck - exhausted and weepy. Guess these things take time to resolve by themselves. But very encouraged to try again. Thanks again for your support guys.
