I personally think the earlier the better because I was 35 wks preg with DD when I had mine and I could hardly walk and I was so uncomfortable I couldnt enjoy myself!

I'd say go ahead Dec/Jan is an expensive and busy time of year for everyone and I'm sure they will appreciate your thoughtfulness .
I had mine at 23weeks pregnant and no body seemed to mind that it was early. It made it much easier in that I had time to go through what I was given and organise it and then decide what I needed to buy (which was not too much at all).

I kind of had two - my church organised one and work organised one. I didn't have any say in when either was, and since the church one was combined with one for my cousin, who was further along than I was, I think I was only 20 weeks or so. I didn't get any funny comments about it...

I was due mid Dec and have mine last weekend in Oct... I think having earlier is good.
Dont want to leave it too late. A friend was going to have hers at 37 weeks, when she finished work... had bubba the day before the baby shower was meant to happen!! Got to have shower later with baby...
As a guest I would appreciate not having to factor in a baby shower present in the middle of xmas shopping!!

I agree early is good. I had mine at 36wks and DD was born 5 days later so really didn't have time to go thru everything before she was born!!

Oh good, glad others are having theirs early too. I'm due in mid-December but my sister is planning on my baby shower being last weekend of October because November/December are very full of family birthdays anyway, especially big ones! And I didn't want to be so uncomfortable with so many people around that an early one keeps sounding better

I wish I could have one earlier. I am trying to work around family members. My sister in law is out of the country till late oct and really wants to be involved. And my best friend gets married the first week of Nov and wants to organise it. I don't want her thinking about the baby shower rather than her own wedding so trying to get it sorted for the week after which will be middle of Nov. I'm due 9th Dec so it will be a late one. I'm hoping bubs doesn't come early, though I have heard of a lot of people having them after baby as a bit more of a celebration and meet the baby...

I'm a Feb 2012 expectant mum and I was thinking pre Christmas too as I know my friends will have enough on their plate with Christmas/New Year.
My boss had her baby shower 10 weeks before she was due (start of august last year, due Oct 10, arrived atbout 2 weeks late).

I had a friend wait until baby was 2 months old before having a shower. Worked for them and baby could be involved

I would also love to have my baby shower early...
Currently 21weeks preg, due 4th Jan but as my son was born premature at 28+5weeks i never got to have a baby shower with him...
So because i am now a high risk pregnancy i am unsure when to have my baby shower incase i do go early again...
I also have my birthday in 7 weeks time (I'l be 28weeks on my bday) just to make things slightly harder lol ;-)
Any Ideas on when i could have baby shower???
Thanks
