Topic: West Auckland - midwife help Posted: 24 February 2011 at 3:53pm |
Hi,
I'm a long time lurker, second time poster , and Im looking for some advice on midwives in West Auckland... I was booked with Gail Kiss and she has unfortunately been diagnosed with an illness and is taking 12months sick leave so I am looking for a new midwife. I have been refered to Kate Hepburn Brown and also have spoken to Angela Scott. Does anyone have any experience with these midwives or have any advice? I am 10 weeks... so still quite new to all this! Thank you so much in advance...

The best way is to meet with them and get a feel for yourself. I had Angela as my MW based on recommendation from someone else, she was great for the delivery not so great for post natal support that I felt I needed.
Don't know Kate, where abouts in West Auckland are you?

I'm in Glendene, which made Gails place ideal! But I'm happy to go with any one out west... I will need to be referred at some point to Waitakere Hospital for my cervix to be checked so I really would like someone who is experienced with birth after lletz loop...

totally my mw - Bunny Cummings, based in Henderson. I switched mw's after DD1, and couldn't have been happier She does get booked up very quickly though! Good luck with the hunt; word of mouth recommendation is the best!

I am with Debbie Ross, she is based in Henderson. She was awesome for the birth of my DD. I can give you her mobile number if you like?
Bunny Cummings is also very good, she was my backup m/w, but gets booked up extremely quickly!

I also have Bunny Cummings and again I changed to her from a different MW with DS who I really wasn't terribly happy with. I can't recommend Bunny enough and I've also dealt with her back up Lolly Freeman after having DS who is also fantastic. Do get in quick though, MW's book up so quickly and these two seem to be in popular demand
All the very best!!

I am with Angela Scott and I like her. The whole team there are really friendly. I don't know what she is like during delivery yet but hopefully will find out very soon.

Pretty much any of the mws at The Midwives, Godley Rd Green Bay. I had Glenda Southey last time and she is absolutely brilliant and the most wonderful supportive mw.
Carly Frances is a mw there but also does accupuncture and I saw her for the accupuncture. If I couldn't have Glenda next time I would go with Carly

Oh no that is awful - Gail was my midwife and was awesome!
Yep I know Debbie and she is lovely. What about Gail's partner Judith?

I had Angela for a hospital and then a homebirth. She is fantastic. Very down to earth.
She was amazing through both births always calm and reassuring

I used The Midwives.. I had Terri Jones, but Glenda actually had to deliver my early baby (Terri was on holiday)! And Glenda was great. This time I'm using Terri again, so hopefully she's great in the labour too :)

A friend of mine had Terri for #2 (a planned homebirth) and really loved her so I am sure you will be fine!

I am with Lolly Freeman, Bunny's back up. Any of the three ladies that work at West Auckland Midwifes are great. Bunny, Lolly or Karen.

If you havnt found someone yet, Linda Norman is fantastic! Her clinic is just down from BP in glendene on that rd that goes down to Westcity
She reffered me to Waitak Hosp and ultrasounds etc for cervical check after multiple punch biopses so knows what shes doing when it comes to that
Goodluck!

a thumbs down to bunny and lolly from me, loved them at first but then they treated me like crap and i would never use them again. They only like dealing with normal pregnancies so if you have any complications or health problems steer clear.
You can always use a hospital midwife the ones at waitakere are all wonderful.
