I am on antibiotics and am starting to develop that tell tale itch that leads to thrush

I have a tube of canestan cream but online it says to check with GP before using in pregnancy. Anyone know if it is ok? Would like to catch it before it gets worse, though perhaps it will happen anyway with the antibiotics.

l had thrush when l was pregnant, the Dr said not to use the applicator, just to apply it externally and put a little bit in using my finger if that makes sense

Been there... found the ultimate solution... tea tree oil. Place a few drops on a tampon and insert. Leave it for a little while. Repeat if you need to. Tea tree kills the bad stuff but leaves the good stuff alone, it's least messy, works externally as well without creating a damn mess...

I didn't think you were allowed to use tampons while pregnant? I've got a minor case and so far haven't done anything about it. Might try the yoghurt tonight as I have some but it could be messy.... happy to try the tea tree as well but not sure about the tampon part.

I think you're not supposed to because they are an infection risk because they harbour bacteria (and usually there is no need for obvious reasons ) - but check with your midwife.

I used a slim tampon and only needed to be in for an hour or less to be effective and obviously the tea tree oil itself tends to kill the bugs... but yeah, ask midwife or doctor first.

Sorry prob should have mentioned that (didn't note that Rainbow was preg when I posted!)

Probably is because of the infection risk but since tea tree oil is antibacterial anyway you would think it would be fine huh.

cannestan is fine to use - but def check with your MW first. I've had it prescribed by MW and GP during this pregnancy. If your MW gets you the script and you get the generic replacement (clomi something or other) it's way cheaper, like only 3 bucks (I think from memory)

SOrry for only being semi helpful but def talk to the MW

A pinetarsol bath will work too depending on how far up the thrush is.
