Topic: My smart cookie Posted: 21 July 2010 at 12:42pm |
Well Eden is two now and what a smart little cookie she is...
She knows her colours and can speak in four word sentences - not always but she said to me yesterday "i can see a plane". She knows that 2 comes after 1 and says strange words like kiwiana very clearly. She is very funny and likes to join in soccer practice with the boys and loves pretending to be a cat. She loves to pick her own clothes and if i might say so doesnt have too bad a fashion sense either.
Whats your smart cookie up to?

Aww, Deb! She sounds very clever!
Benjy has only recently mastered his colours at almost 4.
How cute would she be running around with the boys at soccer practice!!!

Awwww what clever cookies indeed!
Hayden will be 2 at end of month, he learnt his shapes really quickly at 17mths and gets his colours right 90% of the time now, can count to 14 but often misses 3 and 4 but can tell you how many fingers you are holding up (up to 5) and understands the concept of adding together (if Mummy gives Hayden another raisin how many raisins will he have, only up to 3). He can peddle his trike 3 turns in a row and says Excuse Me Please when its time to get down from the table and always says Thank You to the lady who hands out the morning tea at Play Group (says Thank You other times too LOL but few kids remember in the heat of the morning tea frenzy to use their manners!!)

Awww, I love reading about your clever little munchkins!! Makes me smile .
Jarvis is 16 months and is a super problem solver, he's wonderful at working things out! His favourite thing at the moment is escaping into the garden, turning on the hose, putting his finger over the end and making a fountain! .
He loves tractors and mowers, and sits in the tractor (we live on a vineyard!) and pretends to drive it (when it's got no keys in it!) , turns on the hazard lights and sits there saying 'brrrm brrrm tactor tactor!' (I think tr is a little tricky for a small boy!).
He's in love with the moon too, he looks in the sky til he finds it then waves to it & says 'ahhhhh moon...'
Lovely thread, Bizzy - so nice to share cool stuff about our smart cookies!

Gabrielle loves planes and can spot one miles away in the sky even if I can't hear it. We live on a flight path so first thing in the morning its bye bye plane to the 7am Wellington flight
She loves reading and will point out the animals and make the appropriate noises. She gets her books out and will bring them over to me, open my hand and put them in my palm then close my fingers and snuggle in my lap for a story.
She has huge powers of concentration and if she is interested in something she will sit there for ages and ages (long after I've got bored). She often sits with a puzzle and does it over and over again.
My mum collected rugby cards out of the weetbix packets for her and she will spread them out and pick each of them up and look at it, moving them round and stacking them. She has a thing about rugby (not sure where she got that from coz I couldnt care less and we don't live with her dad) and will spend ages watching it on TV.

Jake has just started to role play... he picks up his little phone and "chats" into it.... I think its pretty clever
He has also just started "reading" to himself, he will sit with a book and turn the pages, point to the pictures and "read" out loud.
I just love how being apart of a new person growing, its really is quite amazing to watch them master new skills we take for granted!

Aw, Eden is so cute. And so many clever babies!
I am an eternally proud mummy, but I try not to go on too much. But JJ suprises and delights me daily. He can count to ten in Te Reo, can count actual items up to five, sings whole songs (including the alphabet, mostly right) and knows all his shapes.... from circle to hexagon to (my favourite) "ta-peeze-ium". He is doing 5 - 6 word sentences (mummy come up the steps too).
His talking seems a little bit regressed though lately- I think his brain is working faster than his mouth and he stumbles a lot over his words.
And FINALLY he has started to say "I love you" which I never get sick of hearing. Melts my heart!
