Topic: IVF waiting list Posted: 19 June 2010 at 7:58pm |
We have been TTC for round 2 years now and due to my DF having a LSP we were referred to FA and are now on the public waiting list (18-22months) for IVF.
We have been told that you get 2 public funded cycles. I was wondering has anyone had a sucess from the 1st cyle of IVF or do you need to have more than one cycle?
Also does anyone know how fast the waiting list moves?

Hi ya
We had success with our first IVF cycle and still have 2 frozen embies.
The waiting time might be longer where you are but here in chch we waited about 9 months.
Good luck

Unfortunately the waiting list is as long as it is, as your DHB will only do as many IVF's as they are allowed.
That is a really long wait - where are you? In Wellington it's currently 11 months.

Oh Rach - that is so long. Is there any possibility you can pay for a private round?
I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if you aren't successful on your first publicly funded round, the wait for the second one is not so long, though I guess this varies from area to area too.

We have been thinking bout paying for our own but it would me getting a loan which we didn't really want to do, as with one income plus a mortgage, it would be quite a strain i think.
i did buy a lotto ticket, fingers crossed there, otherwise we are happy to wait after all they say good things take time
