I just did a search on here for topics on screaming but they are old ones and actually one from me when Jaxon was younger asking if it was a phase.. Well jaxon is 17mths and when ever he cant get what he wants he screams long and high pitched.. The neighbours must think he is being murdered.

Its embarrassing..

I dont know how to handle it.. Sometimes I just cant handle it and have to put him in his cot and walk away...

Any ideas please!!!!

I have tried the no!! firmly but he continues and smacks me . Argh!!!. Need to find a solution before its too late...

i wish i knew - toby still thinks screaming is the answer...

i try and not let it get to me and say to him - "you dont need to scream, just say ....insert appropriate words here...". he slowly seems to be getting it

Does Jaxon talk much? Just wondering if it is a frustration thing cos he cant voice what he wants. We dont have a screaming problem, but a crying whingy voice that I cant understand - I tell Hannah to use her words properly so I can understand what she is saying. I also think sometimes reiterating why they cant have whatever or do whatever, can help, but not always. I think you are doing the right thing by putting him in his cot before you lose it as well. Good luck, and I hope it passes as he learns to use his words more.
