iv been thinking....
i have a sort of stressful job- well yes it is stressful and iv mostly been hanging in there for one reason...
hoping id get pregnant and i could get the paid maternity leave
but iv had enough- its driving me nuts
my clients are getting pregnant accidentally and many times over and its doing my head in
i thought you had to be employed for a year to get the paid 14 weeks maternity leave from iRD- does anyone know if this is the case
i have my next ivf in about 4 weeks
and i dunno if i can hang in there

thinking of you all- i read your storues every day and have my fingers crossed for you and me too

emile i'm sorry work is so bad! It is so hard when you aren't happy at ya job! but i do think you have to be at a job for 12 months to qualify for paid parental leave (not 100% sure tho) big decisions! good luck hun!

It used to be 12 months but I'm pretty sure it's 6 months now - although it might depend on what job you have??? I've qualified for it and haven't been there for a year.

thanks for the replies everyone
its so nice to hear from u all
i plan on checking with IRD tomorrow
its just i feel really down
i think i understimate the toll ivf takes on me
on medication- off medication- hot flushes
not getting pregnant- eating like im pregnant-
gaining weight because of the hormones- taking pills and pessaries 3 times a day- phone calls to the clinic- friends asking how i am - caring but not having any idea how i really am
it can all get too much
im gona ring the clinic tomorrow and i will book
for the darn counselling

gonna go have a good cry now
all those bad feelings like...
"im too old to have a baby" (im 34)
"what if i never do ..."- r sneaking back in to my head
darn it
thanks for understanding

You only have to be with your employer 6 months before your due date to qualify for the 14 weeks paid parental leave.
You have to have been with your employer for 12 months before your due date to qualify for the 52 weeks maternity leave.

So yeah, if you wanted to change jobs you would still get your 14 weeks.
