Awww thanks Newbaby!! That information is really helpful and it is nice to hear there are others out there that are taking a similar approach to me. I'm glad to hear things are going well for you. Is this your first baby?
When are you due??

I had a miscarriage Jan 2012 so this is my 2nd pregnancy but hopefully my 1st baby! Due Oct 7th I think. Have a read of my first post on this forum (was called Cherie then, was having login details so had to change my login!) - it's got a link to the Huggies forum - we've got a Facebook group which is a really good way to share your thoughts/feelings with others going through the same.

My friend put me onto this forum and I'm so glad she did! Its so reassuring to see that there are others in the same boat with nerves etc.
I miscarried three months ago and have just found out that I am now 5 weeks with my first.
I am so nervous about the first 12 weeks. I check every time I go to the toilet for blood. I have no idea what aches and pains are normal and since I am reasonably new to NZ (as an adult - lived here as a child) I really don't know the process with GPs and midwives and what tests I need to make sure I have.
I've had three blood tests and get the results for my third test tomorrow afternoon. So far the first two have been increasing. What other tests do I need to have at this time? I am going to make an appt with a GP tomorrow at the new area I have moved too and want to make sure I don't miss anything.
Thanks so much in advance!

Hi Nadine. Congrats on yr pregnancy!! Exciting!! There's not much u need to do in the early stages, sounds like yr having HCG blood tests done which is encouraging to see the levels rising. Pays to choose a midwife early on as depending where u live, they sometimes fill up quick. The midwife will look after u the whole way thru, refer for scans, etc. normally the 1st scan is at 12wks but u can request an early scan if u want (I had 2!!!). 1st blood tests are week 10 which they combine with the 12w scan to figure out yr chance of Down's syndrome (those tests aren't compulsory tho). I know how u feel about feeling nervous/checking for blood every trip to the bathroom!! Pretty much any ache or pain can be normal but if yr worried it pays to get it checked. Good luck with yr first GP appt!! You should join our Facebook group too. Will private message u.

Hi ladies,
I just joined the forums today. It's amazing how many of us have been through similar experiences, I had a miscarriage on Christmas day and now pregnant again - due 8 October! It is definitely nerve wrecking second time round but I have to say the closer i get to 12 weeks the more relaxed I feel.
Nadine - you should definitely request an early scan when you see your GP. I went to my GP and he sorted the referral for me. I went along at 8 weeks and it was so lovely and reassuring to see the heartbeat so I highly recommend it!

Thanks ladies for your lovely advice! I have found a GP and my lovely friend has recommended a good midwife, just waiting for my final HCG results to come through today and then will start making appointments! This forum is just what I needed. Thanks again.

Hi guys
Im so glad i stumbled across this forum. Im 6 weeks with my first and have no friends with kids yet and no family around that I can talk with (them all begin men). Hearing that most aches and pains can be normal was a relief as im not having any symptoms at all just a touch of nausea, tiredness and general acheyness.
Its great to hear that im not the only one in this boat
