Topic: Colposcopy during pregnancy Posted: 25 March 2011 at 7:55pm |
I had some bleeding last week (that was coming from my cervix) and because of my history 6 years ago of CIN3 cells and having a lletz loop biopsy they are wanting me to have a colposcopy and get it checked next week. I'm assuming it is ok as the medical professionals know I will be nearly 36 weeks pregnant and have booked one for me but just wondering if anyone has had one this far on and was it ok?

I had one when pregnant with DS, but I'm probably not much help as I was only about 8weeks along.
I would assume however, that they wouldn't put you or baby under ant undue risk, and would think they would discuss any possible risks first. Can you ring the clinic and discuss your concens for peace of mind?

It must be fine if they are wanting to do it. In any case even if it did make your cervix diliate or anything like that your far enough along to be fine. Though I thought colps weren't reliable while preg or a few weeks after bubs is born

I had one about a week or two ago, so no where near as far along as you. I had to speak to the clinic about 4 times before they convinced me that it was safe to do during pregnancy. I'd have a good chat to them if you can.
