The main thing is if waters have broken and then nothing happens or things are progressing very slowly, then there is more risk that infection can get in and have enough time to really start to work it's nasties before baby arrives.

If you're about to give birth you won't be in the water long so the risk is very low. So mws will monitor the situation. A lot of the time people go into labour, or at least the active first stage of labour, without having their waters break and then the bath is ok. With Krystiana I laboured from 4pm on Saturday afternoon to 8am the next morning when I finally had ARM and then she was born at 9.50am.

At the hospital it was more of the wandering around, except I had to have a gown on

During the main part my MW wa distract me with silly questions and was getting me to talk to her. During my labout with Andrew we talked about all sorts of crazy things. And with Josh she asked me if I was having another one. Funny to look back on now but at the time I was dead against another child.

For my second labour it was really long at the first stage but unestablished so we went for heaps of walks (like about 3 hours of straight walking) to try to get things moving (and it didn't work!). By the time I got to #3 I figured that my labours were always gonna be really long so I just kept doing things like tidying the house, enjoying being around the girls (until I started moaning and the DH took over for me!) and checking and double-checking packed bags etc.
