The samples is a great idea - Ella's like that with some brands so now we just stick with the brands that work on her and that's it.

I'd also say, don't open any of the packets/boxes or take barcodes off them or anything, as a lot of places let you exchange them for the next size up if you find you can't use them. I ended up giving away a lot of newborn size naps 'cause I'd de-barcoded them or taken the 'points' off the pack. (or they changed packaging on me!) Grrr! The good news for you is - seems the bigger brands have recently updated their packaging so aren't likely to do it again soon.

if you are wanting to try some of the odd brand nappeis that baby online and other sell, ask them for samples, not all nappies work for all babies and if you get some samples you can see how they fit and if they leak (Jack leaks in treasures every single time). Well, at least I know I'm not going insane, or thinking in a way that I shouldn't.

On the hunt for a nappy bag at the moment. It's fairly hard to find a large enough bag that is still MANLY

enough for DH to carry around without looking like a "goober"

Thanks all for the replies - Babyonline is my friend - I will only buy from them now. Another couple I know who have twins use the "Dryups" that you get from babyonline and they swear by them.

Busymum, yes, I am looking forward to it, most of the time, I also suffer from horrendus "What have I done"

moments too. I guess that could be normal for most first time mums.

I'll really be able to get excited when I finish work at the end of next month, and when my DH (who is a painter) actually paints the nursery to a standard that I can get in and finish everything else. Not like the rest of our house, which is only ever done 1/2 way, then someone else needs something done

yeah the sticky black poos are generally only passed through once, but some people say they had them for a little longer than that.

Tar poo blasts about a week. Krystiana didn't fit the small size Fuzzibunz until she was 9lbs so I used disposables until then. You won't need to take nappies to the hospital, so that's a bonus.

another idea if you want to stock up is to get supermarket vouchers instead, then you don't have to worry too much about the size at this point.

not weeks...maybe one at the most. it all depends. the faster your milk comes in the faster the meconium goes

oh and travelgirl take advantage of the hospital ones - you'll be able to take some of them home too. you'll have enough, even if you dont buy enough beforehand.

Thanks guys,

My initial thought was to go cloth - that was when we thought we were only having one.......... when we found out it was twins, I put my foot down and told DH and anyone that would listen that I was going disposable until I well and truely had a grip on life with TWO babies.

Busymum - I did some quick sums and came up with about 1000 too. Scary, when I only have enough newborn naps for 20 changes per day for 15.6 days!!!!!! I will have to get online and order some more today I think.

And, yes your right, I'll be stuffed if they are born any bigger than 5.1/2 pound........... I'm only 5 foot 2 on a good day, just imagine what I would look like later on in the peice with TWO 8 pounders !!!!

Argh - this is all too scary - I think I'm going to have one of those denial days!!!!!

man i dont even remember how many we went through with haleigh i think 8 - 10 a day, so roughly 20 a day for newborn twins?? IT all depends on your babies though some need changing more than others.

OK I only had 1 and he was born 4kgs and we still went through almost 400 newborn nappies. Josh was a skinney baby so needed the smallness in the waist. If you are going to so cloth then you would need quite a few. I was given a pack of 52, a pack of 30, two packets of 24 and have just bought two more packets of 24.

It's been just over three weeks and I have about 30 nappies left..

Yeah, they go through heaps!

So in three weeks I've gone through maybe 150 + nappies.

The newborn size goes up to 5kg, and Sam is 5kg already! But he still fits the newborn size.

Oh and btw, you won't need to get them all before the babies are born. Your DH is going to have a pretty good idea of what nappies look like and what type to stock you up on in no time at all

Your babies will probably fit newborn size for about 3mos or so, that's presuming that they are each born smaller than the average newborn (I hope for your sake that they are

). 6-8 changes per day x2 for the first month before it settles, so let's say an average of 6 changes per day, x2, (6x2x7x13)=1092. Oh boy. Why did you ask?!?!
