A wannabe rebel! Been a member for a wee while but wasn't sure if I should post given that my circumstances are quite different to most of you, altho we too have been thru IVF.

I have 2ndary IF, most likely due to my age. Hormones still at normal levels, still ovulating, everything fine except for the introductions not happening. Sperm does not seem to meet egg.

We've been lucky tho - we have 8 mth old Nick - from our 2nd IVF cylce. Nick is my DH's first child but I have a family from a previous marriage.

Now we're trying for another, but we won't do IVF again - too expensive, and anyway we think we hit the jackpot once already. But hey - who knows!

IF is certainly a new perspective - and you're right, those who've never experienced it have no idea. It was certainly a shock to me.

Hope you all don't mind me posting on here ...

My DH has mobility and morphility (sp) issues, but as I haven't been tested, I'm quite sure that my bit's are a bit wrinkly too!!! We have been together 12 years and have been TTC for about 4 years... We have completed 2 cycles of ICSI (publicly funded)and are now about to embark on our 3rd cycle. Am having a bit of a breather at the moment but will definitely do another when we can.

Laurie, I actually asked the specialist if I should pop my legs up the wall afterwards ( I was kinda taking the P*ss), he laughed and said, "if you want to do that, you are more than welcome, but I don't think it will make much difference"....... I can't say I have tried, that one as yet, but I'm not pregnant yet, so maybe it is worth a crack!!!!!!

Edited by Mrs Miggins

I think my doc is hoping that when the cysts go away (if they do) then DH and I might just be able to pull off another conception.

I've been told if the scan in a couple of months still show the cysts I will be referred straight away. I don't think the wait is so long in Wellington, but I could be wrong.

DH already has a little slip of paper that lets him go off to FA and get his swimmers tested. We're waiting on things to settle down at work for him and he'll do the test just before I come off the pill again.

After that, it'll be multi-vitamins and loose boxers for him, an absolutely by-the-book diet for both of us, and legs up the wall after the BDing!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If after a few months that hasn't worked then I guess we'll have to face facts and see what FA can do for us. Luckily we're both only 28, so we do have time on our sides. Just wish I wasn't so impatient!

(Hmm, bizarre mental image there!).

I'm almost 28, and DH and I have been TTC since April 2006, so not a terribly long time in the scheme of things and compared to other people here. We had a M/C after conceiving on cycle 2 back in August 2006. Since then we've had no luck.

Sounds like our conception might have been something of a small miracle as DH has quite a few fertility issues (low count, motility, abnormalites etc etc), and kind of explains why we've since carried on with no luck. Myself, I have a number of ovarian cysts which are supposedly functional in nature, so we're trying to get rid of them by me going back on the pill for a few months.

I'm really hoping that, after I stop the pill I will be super fertile again and we'll get another one of those miracles. But I'm also now prepared that that might not happen and that we might have to explore other options. I don't really know a lot about what our other options are at the moment - I'm trying to ignore it until I know one way or the other about these pesky cysts!

Anyway - hi!

You must give yourself new focus', and treats and plans and things. Talk to us whenever you need to, of course.

Noodle's right too ...people who aren't going through IF have no idea. They have no point of reference, and you can explain until you're blue in the face. It won't make a difference. What's the bet you tell someone your problem, and they tell you to relax about it?

I hope you're baking a chocolate cake!

So at the moment we are doing some rounds of clomid to get me ovulating (not that it has the last 3 rounds that i have taken )but thats ok because i am increasing my dosage to 150mg (1st dosage you try is 50mg) in a couple of weeks so i'm hoping my ovaries behave and do what they are suppose to!!! and if clomid doesent work we are working our way up from there.

Oh yea...
