For all places in Christchurch, the form says to empty bladder 2 hours prior, then drink only clear fluids (1 litre) an hour before the scan. I would go slightly less too.

My doc said for my early scan, to just come with a full bladder. I think they state it for the people that may not know how full their bladder is? Surely if you pay enough attention over the next few days, you'll soon work out when your bladders full, but not too full.

At Ascot you only need a full bladder for early scans. 12 week scans do not need any prep at all, so you don't have to drink anything. i was jsut told not to empty bladder for an hr before scan and to not drink to much.
i was asked to empty my bladder at my scan when i was pregnant with haleigh as i had over done it with the water. Both scans I had to go and empty my bladder because it was too full. Or you have the problem like me where my bladder was too full! I had mine on tuesday and drank two glasses of water in the hour before and was dying to pee as they ususally run slightly late. I wouldn't over do it as its not pleasant! When I had my first scan at just over 6 wks the lady said the same as what Topsy got told. She also said I had a nice full bladder which is clearly visible on the scans!! (nice).

My MW said don't overdo it cos you don't want to be uncomfortable while they are poking and prodding.
