OH HOW NAIEVE WAS I?!? I quickly changed to the cloth flats - gotta have that extra coverage! I also accidentally bought some of those dicky burp cloths made from the same stuff mattress protectors are made from (fleecy, but waterproof). I thought I was buying flat square things, but they are long and shaped to fit over your shoulder. Great for if you're burping a mouse, and that'd be about it. ]]>

I also made my own burp cloths from flannelette -- easy peasy if you have a sewing machine. I did some fancy ones with quilt batting in between layers, but it's just as easy to put four or so layers of flannelette together, then sew a straight seam around the four sides and use pinking shears to trim the edges so they look pretty. (Maybe I should go into business making burp cloths!)]]>

I keep a muslin cloth next to where I feed them all the time coz they inevitably spill, and before they were mobile I'd use one under their heads when they were lying on their playmat.
