I just turned 21. I know im not a teenager but i still feel like im young! And im still getting used to the fact that im pregnant! I never though i would be in this position!

I also worry about being a single mum. I think ive said this story a million times and people are probably sick of hearing it lol. but my ex decided he wants nothing to do with the bubs and dumped me when i was 8 weeks.

SOoo coming to grips with having a baby PLUS being single is freaking me out but im slowly getting used to it. I have my family and friends and thats all i need!

I think a few bad teenage mums have ruined it for all and it's only because people watch more closely they pick up the flaws. It depends on the individual person and their personality and maturity.
I'm still coming to terms with the fact that I'm going to have a baby, not because I don't want to or because I think bubs will ruin my life! It's just I know there are things I'm going to have to give up or cut back on and I hadn't really thought of that, because I was just so happy! And it's not things like partying etc. Because thats not really part of my life. It's just a lot to think about. I think this new chapter of my life will be the most rewarding!
I'm so excited to have real flash and blood family!

I was 17yrs when I had my eldest daughter. I still remember all the predjudice (sp?) towards me and just the sense of not being good enough because I was a young mum (even my own family including my father were terrible to me, my mum was always supportive tho). My daughter  is now 11yrs and I would not change having her when I did for the world. I have since studied my butt off and became a registered nurse and also had 2more children to add to my family. Im still not close with my father even tho he tries to act like "wow you have done so well" NO THANKS TO HIM!!!!

Im one of the youngest mum at the school and my daughter is soo proud because I was voted "The Coolest Mum at the school lol" LOL!!!

There are pluses and minuses to both ages I guess. If you have them young, you will still be young when they are a bit older and can do more things then....and that will be about the time when a lot of other people are finally getting their act together so you will have people to do things with then.

I guess when you have them older (I'm only 34) you get to do things before hand. I was 19 when I got pregnant, 20 when Sean was born and did the single parent thing for years. I was at uni at the time, went back then starting working full-time. It's hard, particularly when your mates are all taking off to do OE's etc and you're at home with a toddler and no money!!! It does get easier - or at least it gets different and you meet new people and find different friends. However it's all an adventure, and you'll be fine. Get yourself some information and support and I'm sure all will work out well. It did for me...even though now I'm old, married and have even more kids. Eeek I'm double a teenager now!!! (in age that is)

I was a teenage mama too... just. I was 19, but turned 20 a month after Han was born.

I'm also a single mama... went through a bit of crap with the whole paternity thing but have given up since so Han just doesn't have a Dad. It's not always easy being a young, single mama but it gets easier as time goes on.

I was the baby of my antenatal classes (21), I felt really out of place as being young single and pregnant amidst all these 'old' married couples (funny how they don't seem so old now that I'm older )

Baby on Board you should definitely come to the Waikato meet up! I'm definitely the last one to judge - it's sheer good luck I managed to avoid a teenage pregnancy

well im not a teenager anymore(BOO HOO HOO)But i had my first at 16 second at 18 third at 21 forth at 23 and now 5 weeks away from my fifth baby at 26!(Due 10th June) The pregnancys were all planned.So there you go it cant have been that bad aye.Youll be sweet!!! Having babies beats any party ive ever been too!(JUST!LOL) So i dont think teenage mums really miss out on anything and besides they can do it all later when kids are older,as i am finally starting to realise,with my oldest being nearly 10.

i was 18 when i got pregnant and 19 when i had mikey. i was lucky, when i was pregnant i lived in greymouth and didn't really get any negative comments or anything. i think it might be because there is a higher incidence of teen pregnancies on the west coast?
i am now 21 and loving being a mum.
sorry to hear about you and your partner, hopefully it was for the best. i'm a solo mum as well although my ex and i were together until quite recently.

Yes it is, I'm just like yea watch my phat belly then. A lot of my own family wont even talk to me and some that do avoid the fact that I'm pregnant

Hey I'm 18 and pregnant too LOL! I know how you feel, having all these people judging you and stuff! I'm kind of scared to go to any of the Ohbaby meet ups because of it. Not that I'm saying anyone on this site is like that. But I think after having comments from some people your self esteem and everything drops!
By the sounds of things you already are mature and have a life going. I'm in the middle of study too, people think 18 wow thats young but people have to look at your maturity age and who you are as a person not just "18!! What a brazen hussy"
I think every mother should be celebrated because of who they are and what they do.

there is a teen mums site - cant remember what its called tho sorry - but when i looked (was a reading a thread a friend had recommended) it looked very immature and catty and if you are used to oh baby it it might be hard to get used to.

i can see if i can find the site again for you if you want.?

oh and as an older mum i wish i had had mine younger, maybe not teen young but def early 20's.

I was 19 when I got pregnant, 20 when my son was born. I have just turn 22. I know Beanz (she on here every now and then) had her little girl at 18 and i'm sure there are others. I had my first at 22 and i'm glad I had my children young. I was 20 (turned 20 the day before my daughter was born!). It is hard being a young mum, esp with people commenting on your age - ie "oh, you look too young to be a mum". But you get used to it, and you learn to just shrug those comments off.

Being a young mum never made my life harder in fact i think it made my life happier (not so much being the young part but just being a mum part) I married my high school sweetheart and we are having another wee man

Even though some of us are years off teenage years we are all going through the same thing. I dont think age really comes into it. I have no idea how old most of the people on here are. yeah ive been ut of collage for 2two years and and half amd did a chef course a year and a half ago so its not like im so imature that i cant handle and dont know wat im doing.

I'm 22 and pregnant with my first. Not as young as some, but I really do feel like I'm still fresh out of high school, or that I'm too young to handle it.

It's not going to be easy, but there are so many supportive people around that are happy to help and give you good advice.

I don't how on earth I would be coping if I didn't find this website.

Everyone here is just so lovely and non-judgemental, that you are able to share your worries and fears knowing that there is always someone that feels the same, or has been through the same.
