Yeah RachandJack - I went from feeling the contractions really definately to not being really sure if that was a contraction and pushing anyway. It was a bit scary but I think I must have been guessing right.

I can't remember how long I pushed Christopher (number 1) but I don't think it was very long. Might have been half an hour tops. With Noah (number 2), I only pushed for 15 to 20 minutes. Only when I had epidural, so used the CTG (and mws). Xanthe and Jordis mum (sorry not sure of name) you animal holding pushes in I wasn't allowed to push cos of anterior lip but did anyway.

Jack was 45 mins of pushing but I was probably sneakily pushing before that. I was in the bath and didn't give 2 hoots about the baby just wanted the pain to be over although I think there was a mirror so ben and mw could watch. Ben describes this day as the worst day in his life from what he saw. I also didn't sit there with the head hanging out like the mw wanted once that head was out everything else got pushed out.

Hoping this baby just falls out with a push or 2.

Stacey 45 mins for me actually didn't feel like it was that long and its good to be doing something rather than just sitting there hurting.

i pushed for 3 bloody hours and still no bubs, we had forceps in the end cos she got stuck in the S-bend.

I had a mirror with Briona but every time I pushed I also squeezed my eyes shut... so there goes that idea lol

At first I was quite disgusted, I had not wanted a mirror (was terrified I'd faint, I'm that type of person) but my mw's back-up was looking after me and wheeled it in during a time when I couldn't talk. I noticed theres quite a few of us who had big bubbas.
When I had HAleigh everyone I knew who had babies had little bubbas (like under 7lb) so her being her weight was a shock to everyone.

Conor 9lb 9oz - he was a vontouse delivery and I really don't remember pushing, apparently I did cause that's the whole point of that kind of delivery. So have no idea time wise.

MY midwife had me sitting on 2 chairs with a mirror on the floor I saw my babies head then it vanished again after a long time of that I was on the bed waiting for an ambulance to go to hospital, but I ahve to say having a mirror to see whats going on would be awesome, as oyu miss alot of the birth when your giving birth, it would be amazing to see.

WOW Anna 20 mins and 12 mins that is mighty quick. I saw Maya's head crowning in the mirror, it was odd coz all I could see was this creamy yellow patch of dark hair (she was covered in vernix from being a wee bit early and the meconium in her waters tinted it yellow).

With Sienna I got to actually watch her being born as Willie was able to hold the mirror while the midwife delivered her. Vanessa I so understand!!!! With Ashlyn, 8lb 13oz we (I) seemed to be taking such a long time for everything to happen, I also had a lip of cervix that didn't pull back and had been pushing for some time, although had epidural which had started to wear off as I was starting to feel things again....maybe if the m/w had tried to pull it back or we had kept going we may have avoided the 1st 'sun roof' birth but it wasn't to be.

Anastasia we were going for VBAC, after inducing for 3 days, mw was getting concernd that baby may be getting too big (12 days over) & it was all sooo much of an emotional roller coaster that I under went another 'sun roof' birth baby being 8lb 7oz, but she hadn't even dropped so I guess she wanted to stay in!!

but jordis??? according to my file second stage of labour was one minute. but i think she had to put that because you HAVE to have a second stage.
It is all my fault though, i knew i needed to push, but i really didnt want the midwife examining me to tell me i could start pushing (with xanthe there was a bit of cervix lip left so she manually moved it, it stung a bit ) so this time i had it in my head she wasnt going to do that again. so i sat on the urge and didnt tell anyone, until jordis was coming whether i was ready or not. the midwife was not ready, she was at the head of the bed calling the doc to come (with premmies a doc has to be present to check them out after) when jordis crowned, and mw didnt even have gloves on. she made a great leap and caught jordis before she landed on the bed. one handed catch too!

I pushed for 2 hours with Matt - trying to avoid an episiotomy, but he just wouldn't come out! His head was kind of tilted backwards, so after my midwife gave me a snip, he popped straight out.

Maya was 1 1/2 hours, she was posterior and turned on the way out. Sienna was going on almost 2 hours and the OB was considering ventouse coz she was trying to come down sideways with Mercedes bearing down on her.

Mercedes fell out all by herself. Mind you, big sister Sienna had done all the work by leaving her a gaping great hole, I think I gave 2 pushes? Maybe next time Vanessa! I do kinda get how you feel (well, as much as you can when you haven't gone through it) as I feel really weird about the birth experience, like I didn't do well enough. with jack...no pushing as he was an upside down bub so came out the sunroof. he was 5lbs 12

with charli i pushed for 1.5hrs before heading off for a c/s as she got stuck and forceps didn't help. she was 7lbs 6

My siter pusjed for 25 mins with number one and was told by the MW, doctor and pretty much eveyone who has had kids that that was awesome for a first baby! Baby number one, who we sometimes call Sean (also Seanathy, Seanderella and Seanathon)..7lbs2oz, came out after around 5 pushes or 15 minutes (total labour 7 hours).

Baby number two, who we sometimes call Andrew (also Andybug, terrorasaur, turnip)...9lbs2oz, positively flew out after 3 pushes (total labour from whoa to go, 2 hours).

Baby number three, who we sometimes call Connor (also Connor-doodles, cuteypumpkin and spud)...9lbs7oz - one practice push and then out on the second (total labour 5 hours, epidurals ROCK).

I was pushing for about an hour and that was more than long enough for me. I was so pissed off at it not being easy that when the midwife asked if I wanted to touch Han's head (for motivational purposes, I assume) I told her to feck off, because if there was only the head to touch then that wasn't enough. The baby had to be out on the floor before I was going to feel any joy in the process.

Andrew was just over 2 hours (my contractions stopped and I couldn't do anything), he was 8lb 4. first off was Josh 9lb 5oz and he was posteria so it was a longggggggg 2 and half hours of pushing.(he got stuck on plevic bone and came out with a bruise on his head)
Next came Brooke weighing in at 8lb 6oz and she was so keen to join this earth it was 2 pushes and she was out I'd say it was only 5 mins.

I had one 8 lb 6 baby and was actively pushing for over 2 hours!!!!, we even ended up with me crouching on the toilet trying that way. A post in another thread reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask for ages: how long did you have to push for? I've now pushed two 8lb babies, heard mw's saying "just one more push, one more push" for forever (okay, 30 minutes), had an episiotomy first time and tear the second, and then I get told I have a long perineum Is 30 minutes of crowning/pushing a long time, and is this probably why my babies under-score on AGPAR colour test?
