The itching starts on the soles of feet and palms of hands (this is were our blood pools) then spreads to the rest of the body.
For me there are no external cures for the itching as its in my blood stream, but I have found cold ice packs helpful as they constrict your blood vessels so there isnt so much "itchyblood" going through to your feet and hands, you can also get aqueous cream with menthol which is quite soothing when you have scratched yourself raw.
Keep us updated and I hope the itch calms

Talk to your LMC about it mine wasn't cholestasis or the other thing is called PUP, something about pustules in pregnancy but can't remember what the U stands for. Definitely talk to you LMC, avoid heat, hot baths, warm socks etc and use cool things to relive it. My midwife thought it was a reaction to hormones but same as you i used to scratch until I bled and it lasted for about 6 weeks after i gave birth too, which seems to point to the hormone thing
I also went to a homeopath for general care during my pregnancy and she came up with a few remedies which helped
