i was pregnant with haleigh over winter and can say i slept in a singlet and undies the whole winter she kept me warm enough lol.
i prefer hotties and whetbags for heat, adn i wouldnt recomend sleeping while the electric blanket is on if you use one. DF wont even allow one on our bed because of the fires hes seen caused by them from not properly storing them or sleeping while they are on.
I also had a client who slept with hers on and has 3rd degree burns over her body.
so other than those risks and the risk of overheating i wouldnt reocmend sleeping with one on.

Yeah, I would watch it in the first tri too, when they say that heat can effect the fetus development. Oh I thought it was to do with the elevating of your body temperature - if you sleep with it on you can get pretty hot before you realise. The only reason you can't sleep with the EB turned on is in case your waters break. I do the wheatbag thing, I actually have a couple - one on my feet and one for my hands/tummy that I kind of cuddle.. cos I find that if my hands and feet are warm, the rest of me is too. So if you're not supposed to leave your electric blanket on, you could put it on to warm it up and if you're still cold then have wheat bags too.

I used mine all thru last winter (why is it that the gremlins only became an effective heating system AFTER the weather started to warm up ) and some nights left it turned on all night on low. I'm not giving up mine!! I really feel the cold, so used it at the start of the pregnancy, and I'm sure I'll need it in a month or so.

I find hot water bottles great! DP and I have one each in the winter. I used a heat bag too. I don't know why you wouldn't be able to use an electric blanket while pregnant? Is it to do with overheating? Megangrace, we have a feather/down Duvet and I really feel the cold, but I get so hot in bed now I sweat quite a bit (sorry TMI), I also use a wheatbag, to warm myself up. We only use a sheet and the Duvet and its toasty and warm - even in winter. They are a great investment!!!!
