I have always only washed Brennas clothes in baking soda (cause of excema(spl??) on face). You don't need to soak nappies at all in fact you shouldn't!

We just use 1/2 scoop of ecostore powder and our nappies come up loverly!

i think you will still have to use some detergent - or else you could try code wash balls (from greenbeans). the vinegar neutralises the detergent and i think it is about a half cup or so in the fabric dispenser. i used to just sprinkle some baking soda in the machine, maybe a tablespoon or so worth. (most nappy manufacturers recommend using half the amount of detergent.)
