They just tell you to stay away from sick kids (in particular) for the first 3 months, and you can have an immunisation 3 months after bubs is born, although I waited til I stopped breast feeding.

Most women will have one lot of antenatal bloods done at 'booking' (sometime in first tri with either LMC or GP), then another at 28, and another at around 36. They check your blood group, iron levels, rubella immunity etc. but hCG levels is not routine.

You will probably only have hCG levels done if you have a history of miscarriage, have had fertility treatment, or have symptoms of a possible/threatened m/c. The reason for this is that levels are so varied it can be more confusing and worrying to do them than to not. My GP refused to do anymore hCG's after the first 3 showed they were rising nicely coz I was getting too anxious and obsessive about them/

It's good to talk to her about how you're feeling lately (sick? tired? anxious?) and get a general feeling of whether you find her easy to talk to. You don't need instant rapport though, in the last month you'll be seeing her every week so you'll get to know her well by the time baby is due.

Congrats on your pregnancy!
