Well all going to plan he should be here around lunchtime on Wed (or at least by the afternoon). MW told me that this time around at least my cervix is favourable for an induction (unlike last time when it HAD to be done for my health) which is kinda nice in a way. I have to admit thou it did hurt a little when she was poking and pulling things up there - I know all for the best. Only problem with having him tonight is I know delivery suite is packed. No spare room up there at all for anyone going into labour. Still haven't told DH's parents yet - I really don't want his dad to know as I know he'll come bounding up to the hospital cos he hasn't heard anything for 5 seconds. I've already told DH that if he even tries anything like that I will go out (probabl in the middle of puching) and tell him where to go (using some very colourful language as you do in labour ). Well he has an eviction notice for 7.30am Wednesday. I'm currently 3cm dialated and 50% effaced. I didn't ring her (oops) but with nothing regular I figured I would just be annoying her. I've got an early appointment up at the hospital tomorrow so not that long to wait now (still have to get through tonight). Once I get comfortable i'm so not going to move again. I got up before and told DH that I would so have an induction over what i'm going through now (only because that was all I knew after having Andrew). Well while I was in the bath DH got in with me (I love my new huge bath that fits 2 adults in it) and TMI he had a feel around up there just to see what he could find. 1 cervix still closed , or maybe just slighty opened, 2 something very hard pushing right up against it (def a head) . I have the most horrendous pain at the moment. I can't walk or sit at the moment as the pain is so bad. I hope they go into something and settle into a decent pattern. I went to the supermarket before and alomst keeled over with one as it hurt so much, I rushed through to get the shopping finished just so I could get home. But Murphy had to be there and everytime I wanted to get to something, someone would have their trolley in the way - I pushed a number out of the way. Good BP is down all by its self (and all the resting I am doing). My MW is happy with the fact that he is 4/5 of the way down and she is hoping I go into labour by myself this weekend (wishful thinking). Once I have the scan and bloods on Monday we will be able to get a better picture of whats happening. When I took the first one in hospital I was all over the place and Mareta came in (she is so lovely) as she was looking after me and took my BP and it had dropped from 150/102 down to 130/82. I know they worked but they worked a little too fast. She tried to get the dosage amount changed due to how they made me feel and was told they couldn't. Then When Kathy came in to see me the next day I told her I didn't like the feeling they gave me and could I try something else. All I got was NO. I'm going to talk with my MW about that as to me she (Kathy) should be trying to help me not make me sick. I'm willing to take things to make me better but not if they make me sick. Becks - if the pills are making you sick - get some different ones - am sure there must be others that are safe in pregnancy - don't just stop taking them.. if you look for another solution and they see that you are willing to try then it's less likely that they'll just think you really don't care.. I think alot of the time med professionals tend to think down on people that just stop taking the meds.. even it is is because of side effects.. so ring em and tell em what the meds do to you.. might be another way of getting them to help you out as if there's no alternative and the side effects really are THAT bad that you have to stop taking them.. then they'll have to make a decision... if not, then maybe you might get something that works for now.

Hmmm, well uric acid in a nut shell for pregnancy is to do with hypertension and Pre E. This is from med lab in NZ "pregnancy ~ compared with the non-pregnant base-line, levels are 20% lower 1st trimester and 20% higher in the 3rd. Levels above 0.35 mmol/L in the 3rd trimester associated with hypertension are a perinatal risk factor."

With your platelets these dilute in pregnancy as we produce more plasma so normal is a bit sketchy, if its a little low it can stop blood from clotting, and it its extremely low its a sign of HELLP, the ladies I have known that ended up with HELLP had nearly no platelets, and had to have them put back in through an IV.

Just a bit of my knowledge, hope it helps some and good luck!!!

I'm having a scan on Monday, I think they want to see how big he is and then look at an induction. I was looking at my blood results and one thing that is letting me down at the moment is my lack of platelets (down to about 115, normal is above 150) and hemoglobin is down as well, and uric acid (have no idea what this is - does anyone know???) is quite high at .36. My MW is good at pushing for a n induction if she feels her lady is not doing well and thats me so hopefully tomorrow we may get somewhere. DH told me he would be happy for him to come Wednesday next week so he can start his leave early. I want him out asap as its just becoming a joke with this heat. I know for sure that if anyone says "We need to admit you", i'll be telling them where to go and I ain't being admitted unless i'm having this baby. Keep pushing Mummy_Becks - you'll be amazed where it will get you. Ring them every day if that's what it takes. The risk with preeclampsia if it's left to continue too long (aside from the obvious risk to bubs) is that it can cause long term liver damage to Mum. Not back till March I think I heard. I had a completely normal induced birth with Andrew, noone up there is sure why she is making me stay pregnant even thou my placenta isn't working all that well. I just wish my fav specialist wasn't on leave , he is the most understanding guy I have met when it comes to pregnancy.

Its just a waiting game now, the one I hate. I really want my body to go into labour itself. I could go against everything i've been told not to do, but then that could just lead to being put in hospital with no induction until then so hopefully not.

I was reading my notes and discharge summary and they say i'm not due until the 23rd which is only a week out from my date but still 1 week is a long time. My MW told me she would rather me be induced around the 16th so hopefully she can get it done for me, or even earlier would be nice.

Yeah I was under Kathy I don't don't hold all that high opinion on her at the moment. I know I am quite gutted as well that he is on leave, but he is allowed a holiday . I'm more pi$$ed with her and she said she wouldn't induce me until the 23rd which is a week over my due date and would let me go longer so long as the BP pills keep my BP down. Hello my placenta is not performing at full function wouldn't it be best to get it all out of me before I get all toxic . Is that Kathy Gillies you are talking about Becks? She held off my possible induction (and I ended up going into labour by myself) too, but in my case (prev c/s) that was a good thing. My mw said she's quite nice.

I'm going to do the whole tears thing. It worked on the specialist I want to see and he knows what its like for a pregnant woman to be like this, his wife had it and he made sure something was done so he doesn't like to see his patients in the same pain. I hear you - all along my OB told me he would induce at 36 weeks, then at 36 weeks he said I had to wait till 38. It's so unfair and by that stage you are soooo over being pregnant! I chucked a tanty and the m/w and I managed to put enough pressure on him that I got my induction at 37 weeks...

Well I kinda discharged myself. The specialist i was put under I don't like all that much (the only female one Palmy has, and I'd rather be under a guy) and we weren't really seeing eye to eye over things. She would rather me kept in hospital on BP drugs until the 23rd of Feb and induce then. I was not impressed and told that as my BP had come down, bloods were fine and no protein in my pee that I was going home today. She told me I could so long as I rest and don't do anything (DH is making sure of this - he took the car keys away from me ) and I take the BP pills. Well i'm not taking them as they make me really sick and lightheaded and i'd rather have a slightly higher BP than feeling like i'm in my own little world for a few hours at a time. As I have to do nothing but rest the swelling has gone done quite a bit (from Monday when my whole body was just a blob). I am feeling fine I just wish I could have this baby now. I see my MW again either tomorrow or Friday (she will explain to me what they want to do with me), have bloods taken on Monday and meant to have a scan next week but they haven't got back to me and i'm not in the mood for chasing anyone down at the hospital.

The thing that annoys me is the dr I saw at the day unit on Monday didn't think I should be staying pregnant for too much longer and now they want me to stay pregnant for longer (I hate dr's at the moment) go figure. I'm hoping that if I have to go to the hospital again that I see the specialist I want to see and I know he will help me out of being pregnant.

For those who are interested...

Becks has got pre eclampsia and really high bp, her whole body is really swolen so she's in hospital for observation etc but the good news for her is that she should be induced either tomorrow or sometime later this week.
