This morning Addison started crying so i went in to get her and she was on her tummy, hands and knees and had pushed herself so far up the top of the cot that she had her chin on the bars looking at the ceiling and couldnt figure out how to get back. I sometimes thinks she does this in her sleep and then wakes up and gets a fright. Oh my gosh good to hear another baby does this we have started just usinhg the portacot that way there a no bar's . I was so glad for the cooler weather last night - I haven't slept properly in ages

It hasn't really bothered Caitlin, she's still sleeping through (with her eyes shut this time! LOL) and last night she fell asleep and had her plastic chicken rattle in the death grip Poor Mr Chicken!

Up until about 8 months ago I was pinning Ella into her safeTsleep.
She was also a houdini baby and would undo it to rotate around the cot and get herself stuck.
It worked really well for us because she didn't wake herself up and despite her best efforts (like Paris!) she never got out of it or undid the pin. She was quite happy and actually got a bit upset when we told her she didn't need her 'straps' anymore

Jax - About the too hot thing. I've been putting Caitlin to bed in just her nappy and a t-shirt, safety sleep then a cotton sheet tucked into the top of the SS so she can't pull it over her face (not that a sheet would be much of an issue)

I wouldn't pin her to it either, if she's strong enough to get out of it now, she might end up pulling the pin open or something... or are we all just a bit too paranoid?!?! We have gone back to using the SS for Joshie, as he was crawling up to the top of his cot in his sleep, and hitting his head on the end. One day he got his leg stuck through the bars (he's got massive kauri trunk thighs. We pinned paris's too, cos it kept her in bed.. i mean once she finally learnt to roll etc, she used to fall out.. although.. she learnt very quickly how to get out anyway.. sit up and crawl out!..

here's a pic of when we stayed at my sister's when she was 18mths.. we decided to use it cos she was on a matress and i thought she'd get out all the time. and she did despite having the safety sleep on.



can't beleive her hair was so long looking at it.. compared to her Ayja is practically bald (although still has more hair than some). lol.

hehe luna thats what addison does. Ive just always hated the thought of pinning them down. Hehe well done Erin. I got a really light weight sleeping bag, one with singlet like sleeves from baby city for $5. Have never used it though but i think i might cos Addison wont stay still, she is fine if she is asleep but yesterday i went in and she had spun around and had her head caught up in her sheet.

Hehe yup very clever indeed...(Thanks Roksana!!) but I do feel a bit embarassed now because with all of her crying and fussing, I didn't think to check her nappy Hubby did though, and it was the stinky one to end ALL stinky ones

AND She's finally asleep... so will wait til a bit after six and dinner will just have to be a bit later than usual... here's hoping she sleeps well after her proper "bedtime".

Don't know what we'll do with the safety sleep though... just keep trying to use it for a while, or give up now?
