I love the name Chloe, that was one of my top names.

I remember a while back there was a wee boy whose parents were fined big bucks for naming him MMM - stands for Mighty Mongrel Mob. What on earth were they thinking

Yes the same with us and Paige.. kaw - Dh and I are both teachers, so thats about 60 names a year that become loaded either positively or negatively. I specifically asked for a child with our boys name to be placed in another class so as not to put me off it!

I don't prejudge kids by their names (as far as I am aware), but once I have a naughty kid with a name, it is off my personal name list!

Funny about Paige over there - here it always seems to belong to lovely little girls - so far...And I agree about Chloe! well my friends paretns mustve loved their Whiskey when they called him Jack Daniels lol (or it was jsut a coincidence).
My mum has a friend called Shawn Lamb now those sorts of names are cruel. I feel sorry for the poor kids growing up with those types of names.

No one spells my name correctly

European's spell is Roxana, roxanna, roxsana
Indians spell it Rukshana, rukhshana...

My Grandparents, both my aunts and my cousin are all teachers and they say that often names can be associated with "naughty" children. I think it can be a little harsh too, but training to be a teacher, when i see an unusual name, you do tend to make instant judgements about them, whether or not it is conscious or what. As for the spelling, I think as long as it is obvious how to say it, no problem.
Although names are a personal thing, somethings I do find a bit ridiculous

there was this woman in the Woman's Weekly who's little girl died - meningitis I thyink. Her name was V8. Now, drawing inspiration from things is okay, but inanimate objects? I spelt my girls name Haleigh, instead of Hayley.
I also have a friend whos daughters name is Shayna (said Sharna).
My name people still don't kjnow how to spell and mines spelt the way it should be, so I think no matter what name you ahve some people are always going to spell a name wrong.
I think those teachers are nasty to basically make up their mind about the child before they even get to know them. They are just being bullies.

I think its is probably a bit different for NZ- this is UK based so the popular Chav names probably aren't the same. I was really surprised to see Poppy and Chloe in there! They seem like such pretty girly names- not naughty ones. I have had to spell my name my whole life...and i don't think till people have an unusual spelling name that they understand... it might sounds cute but it's not fun to have to spell your name 85 times a day:)
