I was also advised to not have an epidural but in the end they gave me one (which was magic with the pain but didn't help me progress) and I had no ill effects from it. I did end up having a general anesthetic for the Caesar though as they couldn't dial the epidural up to the point I couldn't feel it for surgery. I've just had my second baby two weeks ago (also emergency caesarean as she decided to come the day before our booked Caesar!) and I was able to have her caesarean under spinal which was great. Good luck!

This was 15 years ago now...doctors told to be aware of added back pain and pressure during pregnancy, on top of what I deal with everyday...I was told that I could end up on bed rest in the third trimester and it was unlikely that I could give birth naturally.

At present I am 2 weeks away from my due date and I have been pleasantly surprised at how easy on my body it has been! I have been advised to stay away from an epidural and my midwife sees no reason why I cant give birth naturally. I have had very little back pain or trouble with my fusion...Obviously your fusion is slightly lower then mine but I've found pregnancy yoga to be amazing for staying relaxed and mobile. Maybe something to look into?

I have just found out I'm 8weeks pregnant and while my partner and I are super excited, I'm terrified about how things will progress as earlier this year I broke my back in a trampoline accident. I had my lumber fused from L2-L4 with rods and screws. I have recovered well but an concerned about having problems later in pregnancy and birth...

Have any ladies had a similar experience? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm also looking for midwife recommendations in the Hamilton area and wonder how I would go about finding one who may have experience in dealing with pregnancy/birth post spinal fusions?

Sorry about the long post but any help would be greatly appreciated!!
