Not a single one. And I hadn't even had time (or bother) for oils etc. Then Hannah was born and within the week I got all the stretch marks - from shrinking! LOL<br /><br />Vix I know what you mean, it's nice to be semi-anonymous in a way and you can ask all sorts of funny sounding questions which I wouldn't dare ask in person <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"> ]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=10436">Andie</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 4435<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 15 November 2006 at 1:16pm<br /><br />I tried it twice and it just hurt a bit.&nbsp; Ella had a larger than average head, and after an hour and a half of pushing I narrowly avoided an episiotomy, and only had a 1st-deg tear and a nasty graze (which the stretching wouldn't have helped avoid anyway).&nbsp; Somehow I doubt that doing the stretching massage would have prevented that.&nbsp; I think labouring in the bath is what saved me from needing more stitches!&nbsp; ]]>

Midwife said to do it with olive oil, but I never tired that! <br /><br />Vix,..I used Bio Oil right through my pregnacy from about 13 weeks, on my belly and hips after my shower in the morning. I also used Cocoa butter mosituriser on my belly before bed. No stretch marks on my belly or hips at all,...but lots on my boobs! So I would start oiling them too if I was u! ]]>

Some get strech marks and some don't- they have better skin elasticity.  I think like how they say that using stretch mark cream can lessen the severity of the marks you get, the perenium massage probably lessens the severity of the tear but if you're going to tear alot you will probably still tear.<br />I did it first time around with DD- I used KY as thats what my midwife recommended. Its was horrible but DH thought it was hilarious. Seemed to work ok as I only had 1 small tear. Will do it again in case it did help as I would much rather do that than be ripped to bits!<br /><br />I am a total prude! I saw this thread days ago and didn't want to read it because I was worried it would be gross- its silly because I always end up answering the gross ones anyway <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0"> ]]>

Unfortunatly the perinium is not the only part that can tear. I ended up with 3 tears, only one of which was my periniem,..so even if I had done it, it wouldnt have stopped my labia, or vagina tearing anyway. ( sorry if TMI!)]]>

I really think that makes a difference, as everyone I know who has done it has had no tears.]]>

Although she did tell me to insert evening primrose oil tablets up my foo foo, to ripen the cervix.  Which of course i did.  If you try that only do it at night and wear granny undies.  YUCK]]>
