Well, I'm back home...just got back. Just had a quick flick through the pages, and thank you to everyone for your well wishes! When I have time I'll write a bit more, but basically what happened was I went into labour 10pm 23rd July and over the next 24 hours baby had turned posterior and got 'stuck' between my pelvis and bladder so after getting myself 8cm dilated without intervention, it was decided I needed an emergency c-section! But by the size of her, I don't think I could have pushed her out! She's 52cm long and 36cm circumference head. Doctor told me she had bruised my bladder as well. Anyway, she's here and thats all that matters and things are pretty good, feeding well, sleeping well, etc. just VERY tired!

i'm seeing my MW next week for a sweep, and hope he will come out then seeing i'm on EPO and Red Rasp.... so yay might be a july babe....i'm lucky the MW has a specialist who will induce me on or 5days before my due date, as i don't want to go over as my daughter is going skiing on the 6th and i don't want to take the risk of her missing the labour as both girls want to be there to see their bro come.....

Yeah, theres a couple of girls that pop in but haven't heard from them in ages and Jaz had her bubs way back in June and Baysmum had hers right at the beginning of July . I'll go for another walk today I think...

i had he tablets wen having haleigh cause janice was into that sort of thing, they worked for me, i had 2 and a lavender bath and things kick started.

Hi Skyela, the homeopathic tablets are called caulophyllum 30cc - I'm not sure where you get them as my MW gave them to me...they did give me cramps but still nothing is happening! I've just been for a walk to the video shop and got myself a whole bunch of DVD's to watch as I'm BORED, BORED, BORED! Baby must be quite engaged because the walk was pretty uncomfortable and I had shooting pains going down my inner thighs. I am due tomorrow. loads of cramps and back pain but not a lot else.

I went into early labour 3 weeks ago but didn't progress. Only 1.5 cms dilated and 50% effaced then. Baby was fully engaged though.

Got a call from the hospital this morning...I don't go and see the specialist until next Monday afternoon, but they advised me to bring all my labour stuff as its likely they will induce me at the same time considering I'll be 11 days overdue by then.

Would have liked to have gone earlier but my midwife said she doesn't like to induce before 12 days anyway, so if bubs doesn't come on her own accord we can assume we will be holding her by the 24th at the latest! Still, what a wait! Man, I'm still in one piece!

MW saw me today and I am making progress - just slowly. Baby is now 2/5 engaged. She didn't do s&s - didn't think it was necessary. But she's given me some homeopathic tablet things to take for the next 6 hours which she said work great if your body is nearly ready. And she also gave me some evening primrose oil tablets to insert every night - she suggested 2 tablets before going to bed. I also will be seeing OB in the next day or so to discuss induction process, apparently you have to wait till 10-12 days overdue here (well I'll be 5 days overdue tomorrow so I guess thats not too long) I'm thinking positive and really hope induction won't be necessary as want to keep this birth as natural as possible. Obviously baby is WAY too comfortable to want to come out!

Well, just had my stretch and sweep and it wasn't bad at all - phew! I'm only 1cm dilated at the moment and baby is only slightly engaged, so MW doesn't think I'll go this weeekend and will possibly need another sweep maybe Monday. But at least this will get things moving I suppose. Its just the drive to Nelson that I'm not going to enjoy, Monique (since I decided I will birth there). But then I'm going to transfer to Motueka maternity unit a couple of hours after birth.

i had s&s with James, wen my mw did it she said I was 2cm and stretched me to 3cm, that was the Mon and I had James on the Thurs.

i have to say breathing is def very important, with haleigh i didnt concentrate enough on it, but this time round I did and it made it much easier.

Yeah, my MW has given me heaps of info on the importance of breathing through contractions, relaxing, etc. All easy to remember now, but not sure what I'll be like when I'm actually in pain. I do try to remember this though when I'm having painful cramps which is kind of like practicing I guess...

Baysmum, I have heard stuff like that. Apparently oxytocin is the "trust" hormone and when you go into labour you need to basically give up all control yourslef and trust that the people around you know what you are wanting and what they aredoing. As soon as you get worked up you produce adrenalin and that is the enemy of oxytocin and slows everything down.

Big ask but I think when we go into labour we just need to think positive and try and relax (boy you can really tell I aint done this labour thing yet cantyou)

this labour was soooooooo much better and easier than my first!! - i didnt actually go into labour until i had my waters broken at 10 or 11am (?) on the 4th (i just had contractions all that night that did nothing so were considered nothing) as soon as my waters broke i was away!! i think my MW said 7.5 hours from then till baby! and i did the majority of it on gas and almost by myself cos i sent DH to his physio for his hand and out with his son cos there wasnt much he could do! then i had epidural at 8cms and half hour later was ready to push then 15 mins of pushing and Astin was out! BUT with Bay i was a screaming mess from start to finish!! and it was yucky!
my birth with Astin just makes me want to do it again

heres a bit of advice if ya want shell - when i was in labour with my first i let myself get too wound up! and i thought the worst of every contraction! and was always screaming for DH to help me and not listening to instructions when given them like slow my breathing etc which i think is because it was my first and i was so untrusting and unsure so this time i did the complete opposite - breathed through the contractions instead of holding my breath , listened to all instructions!, didnt ask DH to help! (as in screaming for help) and yeah it really did make a difference!

I can't imagine missing being pregnant - can't say I've had the easiest run . Glad to hear you had such a great labour experience, I can only hope mine is not going to be too bad, but I'm starting to get nervous about it! Thats why I would prefer to go naturally and let things build up in their own time. Hey Shell I have had a few stretch and sweeps they didn't work with Jack but with Caprece I had one on the thursday then went home had a big walk and special cuddles and went into labour the next day.

They are a wee bit uncomfortable but no worse than a smear. Well, I'm still in one piece. Saw my MW last night and nothing much else to report really from my last visit. She is going to do a stretch and sweep this Friday which I'm getting a bit anxious about...has anyone had this and what are your thoughts? I'm hoping something will happen before I have to have it done .

Am getting heaps of braxton hicks and lots of cramps down below, but nothing consistent. Some are painful, some aren't. Yup, I'm WAY over it! Went out for lunch with MIL today and can't believe how sore and tired I got - my hips, pelvis, legs were sore just after a couple of hours of walking around the mall! And lots of preggie ladies around, but I was the only one that looked like a heffalump. Apparently (considering i have only ever been induced! lol) being induced makes labour far more painful and increases the risk of needing an assisted delivery by loads!! with my first boy i had to have vontous (SP??) delivery!

Well nothing to report from midwife I'm afraid. She said I could go and get some acupuncture for my fluid retention if I get desperate, but other than that, just have to wait until bubs arrives. Baby is starting to engage and the period cramps are just another sign that labour is iminent (but could still be another 3 weeks she reckons )

She is not going to do anything for me until I'm 40 weeks, so next Thursday she might give me a stretch and sweep to get things moving along. She says she would rather have me go into labour naturally than be induced (especially since there is no indication to be induced) and this could take up to 3 weeks! I'm not happy but what can you do...? I just wish I could sleep at night, but I don't anymore, so the days (and nights) are absolutely dragging. I may as well say wednesday for me unless he does come as fast as the MW and specialist think!!
When i was induced with Bay i was meant to be induced at 8pmish and there was soooo much hoha and preparation that i was induced at like 11pm!!!!! and then it started working at 7am the next morning!! so im guessing this time may be the same!

Im having lunch out 2moro with DH and then getting my nails done at my sisters salon so YAY for that!

Im on here stalling at the moment trying to type as loud as i can!! cos DH and his mate are outside "putting the chicken to rest"!!! cos as we discovered she is actually a HE!! and his constant crowing in the mornings are driving everyone nutts!! plus hes getting soooooo vicous!!! we saw a little sparow go in his hutch the other day and he pecked and stamped it to death!!! then one of our cats went over to have a nosey and he had a go at her!!! and considering he can kind of get out! id rather not have him around my son!! so we asked the farmer that we got him from and he said that this was the stage to "put them to bed"!!

CALEB JAMES HAS ARRIVED (8 days early) on the bedroom floor at home after a one hour labour.

Labour started at 4pm, he was born at 4.55pm, and was an unexpected home birth. The midwifes arrived 15 minutes before the birth with just enough time to have my neighbour and DD heat up the room and some towels, get hot water bottles ready and line the floor with plastic bags and old towels. DH arrived home with 5 minutes to spare, two big pushes and out he came.

I thought you were off having a baby??!! I half expected Astin to be here by now...! Perhaps its too cold for him to want to be out...?!

I don't think my MW will evict bubs...she's into doing everything 'naturally'! So, I'm sure I'll be in one piece for awhile yet. I don't know how I'm going to survive - I'm just so uncomfortable. Need to pee every 2 mins, have terrible pain in my pubic area and am getting some bad period-type cramps. I will beg her though and see what happens .

My scan showed that i was already 39 weeks 6days when i had it and i was only 36 weeks 2 days! LOL!!

So happy everything is alright, Amber, and now you can look forward to seeing your wee man!

I received my scan results and everything is alright but apparently I have a 'mildly higher than normal' (95th percentile) amount of amniotic fluid, whatever that means...? Haven't heard from MW so I guess its not a huge problem, but I wonder if this is why I have such bad fluid retention...? And the scan puts me a week ahead of dates, so that would make me 39 weeks. I will discuss this with MW on Monday. YAY!!! so heres my update and yes im too lazy to retype so im copying from what i just put in my other thread...

hi ladies! well its good news so far! firstly the Spec (specialist for further reference ) did a scan and didnt think that there was anything wrong with Astins liver!! but he did think that he was big so he organised for me to be induced on tuesday night ...and then he gave me an internal and low and behold!! im already 2-3cms dialated!!, 70% efaced and -1 engaged (MW said that this is the next level from 5/5!) and MW also picked up some contractions on the monitor that i wasnt really feeling so YAY!! we are already under way!! and the spec doesnt even think il make it to tuesday anyway!! im getting pains now but i think its cos he really had a good feel up there!! MW thinks that him doing an internal will speed things along even further but still told DH and i to go home and have lots of *special cuddles*!! which embarrassed the crap out of DH!! LMAO!!

iv just gotten back from my MW appointment which was a happy one until i got the phone call on my way home (incase you havnt read my thread that i just put up) to tell me that my scan showed up that he has an enlarged liver!!! so i have a specialist app tommorow.

MWs will always tell you you'll go over as apparently first babies always do. When I got to my due date I just started counting down from 10 days, my thinking was that they wouldn't let me go over 10 days overdue.

I think out of the July 06 babies the average was 4 days over (except Deez, she went to 11 days just to be special )

I had a scan 2 days before my due date for the same reason Shell21, MW wasn't sure if she was feeling a head or a bum. Turns out baby was the right way up and the lady who did the scan said "oohhh it's very engaged and big - at least 9lbs"
I thought she was being a smart mouth and laughed it off, how could I have a 9lb baby?!?!?

oh shell! LOL!!!! sucks ay!! my boy has the big tummy thing!! at my 26 week scan they said his tummy was in th upper 80-90%!!! and now at the last one it was even bigger and she asked me if i had been tested for gest. diabetes but wouldnt tell me anything else!!! so im looking forward to seeing my MW this avo and asking her all about it!!! (BTW - i was tested and all was normal!!???).
Im hoping (i know its probably a long shot! ) that i will be induced due to bubs size and the concern about his tummy size!!

Thats a bummer about your wee girl not being engaged ay!! cos didnt your MW think you were 3/5 engaged??

The songrapher said that my boy was definately engaged and probably more so than 1/5 cos she could only get a tiny view of his head cos he was down too far...i asked her if she could tell me if he had hair cos they did so with Bay and were spot on (they said he had no hair except for a "tuffed" mullet at the very back! lol....and they were spot on!) but she said that he was down way to far and she couldnt see at all.

Well Amber, I can relate now. MW sent me for a scan because she wasn't sure if bubs was breech or not, and they reckon bubs weighs 7lbs 15ozs already! She's head down, but apparently NOT engaged and the sonagrapher said that she had a "generous stomach"! What does that mean? That my wee girl is a chubby chops already!

Sooooooooo, if she's not engaged, and weighs that already, I'm REALLY scared about how big she'll be considering it looks like I will go overdue! Yikes, I was nervous before but now...!!

Hi!! im still here i have just been for a scan to make sure i dont have Olygohydrosis again like i did with Bay and all is well BUT!! my boy is already 7lb 10oz!! and thats not going on his leg length cos we already know he is really long!!! EEEEKKKKKK!!!!! im measuring (and so is he) at 39wks 6days!!! my big plumpy boy!!!!!
Im so having *special cuddles* tonight!!!! lol he just either has to come before 2moro 1pm or not till monday cos my MW is going away!

My first boy was 7.5lbs at birth!!! and that was overdue!!!

Im still only 1/5 engaged! but my MW said that shes supprised that im even that much as 2nd bubs generally dont drop at all until they are on their way out!!!

Had MW appointment today - all is well, and yay, bubs is 3/5 engaged! I was getting so worried she wouldn't get down there, but seems like things are progressing as they should.
