I'm also going to make sure we recycle everything we can and will find a place in the garden to start composting. Hmmm, making me think about cloth again...

Our council recently switched from collecting the recycling weekly to fortnightly which is REALLY annoying. When they did it weekly everything went in the same recycling bin. Now they alternate one week glass, the next week paper/cardboard, claiming it should make no difference - but we have hardly any glass and LOADS of paper/cardboard, so we inevitably fill the recyling bin after one week and ended up having to put the rest in the general rubbish which is frustrating. The rubbish contractors are so picky that even if you put a cardboard box filled with extra cardboard on top of the recycling bin, they won't take it - only what is IN the bin. GRRRRRR!

And it's not a competition either!!

We put out two council rubbish bags per week. This does not include glass (which the council collects separately once a fortnight) and the general recycling (paper/cardboard/plastic). So our general rubbish is mostly food scraps, nappies/tissues etc and things that get tossed in when DH or I are too lazy to go to the recycling or the recycling is full. We don't compost or do anything else in terms of recycling.

We are a family of two adults, one 2.5 year old and a 7 month old (both kids in disposable nappies).
