It also helped that I had a VB first time round so we knew that route was an option.  Apparently I had a greater chance of a VB than a first time mum.  You would probably have that of a first timer as the c-section was planned and due to twins.<br /><br />You will meet a lot of opposition to HBAC and I would take it all on board as there are higher risks.  In saying that, you live so close to a main hospital...really is there any difference to home vs a birthing unit (other than some pain relief options)  For me it was riskier as we are 3 hrs from hospital.  As it was, the wee guy just had other plans and 1hr 40 after seeing MW and being told NOT in labour he was in my arms on our bedroom floor.<br /><br />Now I am a strongly pro  medical person but I have to say, birthing at home was the best experience I have ever had and I think it had something to do with how easy it was.  <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley14.gif" border="0"> ]]>

I'm sure I'd have her support and plenty of advice if that's what we choose to do. It's just a shame she lives in Wellington because I'd have her as my midwife in a heart beat!]]>

It happens all the time!<br />You might get a bit of grief when you have the regulation OB visit at the hospital, but if you know your stuff then they won't bother you too much!  ]]>

My 2nd VBAC was a homebirth. I wanted to have my 1st VBAC at home but the midwife i had at the time refused which i found odd considering she'd had a HBAC herself!<br /><br />The midwife i had for my HBAC was amazing!! I went 18 days overdue and she was happy for me to do that and even kept the OBs at the hospital at bay when they kept on asking about me and why i hadnt had my baby yet. <br /><br />I have now had 2 HBACs, (4 VBACs all up) and am planning my 3rd HBAC :).]]>

There is no reason to have your first birth in hospy, but you the vbac will make some MWs nervous. I suggest you start researching good MWs now so you know who to call when you get preg as the best HBMWs do book up very fast. Anyway I'm already thinking about birthing options.<br /><br />My background is I had twin girls 3 and a half years ago via planned CS. I never went into labour.<br /><br />So my question is, is it unrealistic of me to go for a homebirth considering it would technically be my first natural birth. Also considering this would be a VBAC.<br />The more I think about it the more the idea appeals to me. ]]>
