Its likely to be something as simple as changing her diet. Being that constipated is not normal- if the dr ddoesnt thiunk there is anything physically wrong with her bowel, then I would suggest looking more at the cause to get to the solution. Good luck!

DS has had constipation issues since starting solids. At 8 months we even put him back on puree pumpkin, pear and peach diet and that still didn't really help. Unfortunately he has had an anal fissure so I think he holds them in which makes it worse. My poor boy has never had a banana as I am reluctant to give him anything that will bung him up. Hardest thing ever watching him try to squeeze one out
Will be trying kiwi crush as he loves the taste of kiwifruit. I was going to take him back to the GP but don't want to just be told to give him more Lactulose.

We gave him baby cereal mixed with prune juice every morning. If we skipped a morning, back to rabbit pellets.
Then all of a sudden about 2 or 3 months later, the issue had just gone. We didn't change anything (other than stopping the cereal & prune juice when we realised things were getting too loose instead)

And maybe the kiwi crush as well. Hadn't thought of those. She does eat bananas but very few. Half a small banana at most a day (I eat the other half cause I'm aware they can bung them up). But the last week I've given her Kiwifruit instead of banana at breakfast as well as Kiwifruit for her lunch.

I don't like having to force medicines into her so will do what I can with the prunes etc and hopefully it makes a difference. It's just making her miserable not being able to poo.
Doc said if these sachet things don't work, then the next step is to try the Coloxl (excuse spelling) drops but I don't want to go down that route cause they can cause cramps and diarrhoea! No thank you!

Thanks for all your suggestions ladies

Been to the doctor several times and just been told to keep giving lactulose, twice a day.

At first it was fine and was making a difference but DD is obviously hating having to take it all the time now and absolutely refuses it. Have tried using syringe, spoon, cup, putting it in her water/milk but she just will not have it. Even if I hold her down and try and hold her mouth shut (gently of course) until she swallows it, she just holds it in her mouth then spits it out.
Took her back to Doc today and she's given me some stuff that is in powder form (can't remember the name of it but it starts with M) and I mix it in with her water.... but it has a lemon/lime taste to it and she HATES it. She needs to have one sachet a day but she probably had all of about 3 small sips today then tried to tip it out and screwed up her face.

I really don't know what else I can do. She hasn't done a decent poo in weeks. She had been doing really well and pooing on the potty every two days but now she holds on to them cause they hurt so much when they do come out now she is so constipated with not having the lactulose so just does wee skids in her nappy.

I feel dreadful for her, she has been miserable so her tummy must be hurting but the Doc just doesn't seem to worried.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?
