I enjoy gathering our friends together in celebration, maybe later on I will be less enthusiastic about that!

We also have a special birthday dinner on the day with my mum & dad, my two sisters and my nephew. The birthday person gets to choose what we have for dinner and dessert.

We always got great presents and a party tea, and on our tenth birthday we were allowed to choose somewhere to go for a day out with the family, like the zoo or something. There were eight of us, and you can imagine that it just wouldn't have been possible to 'do' something every birthday!

It's nice knowing that our birthdays were still super-special even though Mum and Dad didn't spend as much money as lots of parents do. On the other hand, I'm planning on enjoying the freedom of having less kids (I say that now, I guess it could change... but I can't realistically see me stretching to eight!!!) and being able to perhaps make family outings on birthdays a bit more frequent.

I kind of like the charm bracelet tradition for a girl - very cliched now, but still very cool. I think I might do that
