Titirangi is fab! We have a great house with bush and lawn, good sun and walking distance to the village. Easy to get to the beach as all down hill, harder to get home... DH often collects us on way home from work :). A real sense of community comes with the village environment. But warned though they are waiting lists for nearly every activity. The playcentre has a year and a half at least and the plunket playgroup about 8 weeks.

There are 2 docs surgeries and one alternative practice. 2 dentists, 3 hairdressers, loads of cafes and takeaways and the library, community house and community centre.

Schooling is good, titirangi primary, kauri lands or woodlands park.

Public transport- there are a couple of express bus in the morning and evening which take about 40 mins into CBD but other that that it is 20 mins to new Lynn then change for bus or train in to CBD which takes another about 35 mins. I think buses go about every 30 mins. it pretty much takes 20 mins to get to the motorway what every direction you head in the car!

You have to visit a house at various times of the day to make sure it gets sun, count the number of dehumifiers and be prepared for quirky builds :)

I agree with the hills, its quite steep in some parts and the houses I know of often have bush on their land but very little grass. Glen Eden is also excellentr and only 5min drive from titrangi anyway. They are both really nice areas with lots of good schools :)

Probably at least 20 minutes and it's all downhill. I wouldn't want to be walking back up the hills (with very limited footpaths) to the village.

It is lovely out there, but I agree is not a very cheap area these days as very trendy! Titirangi is awesome. Not particularly affordable though?

Plunket playgroup there is really amazing. Really laid back part of Auckland. My favourite cafes are there, they have some nice restaurants - it's a nice village feel as much as Auckland can! And beaches nearby. Great place to live. Fairly good schools in the area too.

Down side - it's a bit landlocked in terms of motorways so therefore takes ages to go anywhere other than locally. Upside is Glen Eden train station not too far away. I grew up in Titirangi and loved it. Titirangi Primary is a very good school. The local shops have some really nice cafe's and there is a monthly market. Hi :)

We're thinking about moving to a different area of Auckland... one where we can afford more than a shoe box to live.

Is anyone from Titirangi? What's good and what's bad about the area? I know house position is important, and having as much sun as possible is desirable due to the bush setting of a lot of properties.

What about the local shops and facilities? Doctors, dentists?

Are there good community based activities for kidlets?

Schooling options?

Does anyone use the public transport? How long does it take to get into the CBD?
