Wiggly Jiggly!! Do we live in the same house?! HAHA I was just reading the description and it sounds oddly familiar!

We will definitely be putting a fence up the front section. We've fenced our outside area - turned out to be just in time cos DD can now open the lock on the french doors and let herself out. We used a gate like the one Pudgy linked, worked perfectly in our ranchslider.

I agree with the others that building a fence seems like the way to go outside. DS can run like the clappers at the best of times, but seems to run faster when I'm actually trying to catch him!!

You can put gates in the sliding door track, then have a bit of wood at the other end so its locked both ways.

I would def fence the outside, he might get out one day without you realising, at least you will know he cant escape unlike old house. My parents have a security bolt in their sliding door which they put two holes in, so it can be locked when the door is closed but also left slightly ajar & again locked into place, cause it's into the top of the sliding door no kid can get to it.

I would also build a gate or fence across if you don't need to bring the car all the way up. Our place is the same. Sliding door instead of front door, and unfenced driveway. We have a regular baby gate across the doorway (in front of the slidey part, if that makes sense). Stops my 2.5yr old DD getting out. If you can find the sliding babygates you can use one of those in your sliding door. Something like this Gate

Personally I'd get a gate made for the side of the house. Then you can lock it and know he can't get out

I am just wondering what people have done to make their outside area safe for baby.

We live on a cul de sac we have a big back yard but the path leading down to it is not fenced, so technically when DS can walk he could get up to the road, obviously I would supervise him and that is unlikely to happen but I want to cover all my bases as we all know how quickly they can move.

Do we need to get someone to build a gate? Or is there anything you can buy like that, for outside? Do the indoor gates work for outdoors?

Also we have a sliding door at the front of the house rather than a front door, so we need to find a way to have that open but so the baby can't get out. What have people done with this?
