We have used poles with plastic covered netting to fence of the side of our rental property. We have nasty rough concrete out the back that kids love to run (and fall) on so its just safer if they can't get to it. It has been up now almost 2 years and is still going strong. Landlord won't even fork out to fix the leaky shower so no chance of helping with this.

Planter boxes are a possibility! Is there anyway you could ask your landlord to fence it? Worth a try.... We're currently renting and have got a tiled patio with two steps down to the paved yard. My girls are desperate to get outside now they are walking and the weather is good but they run in two different directions, put everything they can get their hands on in their mouths and try to climb up and down the tiled steps.

Suffice to say it's pretty stressful, catching them before they either choke or fall down the steps.

I'd love to be able to fence the patio so they can safely play inside or outside. But as it's a rental property it could only be temporary.

Does anyone know of some kind of safe/sturdy temporary fencing that doesn't need to be dug into the ground?
I suspect it's an impossibility
