I stumbled across OB when researching a pram & had to join to ask a question & I was not given a guest####.

You get to know who posts by their username so you remember things but when they have guest its hard to remember & personally I don't bother as I can't tell 1 for another.

That would be correct. We give people a default forum handle depending on which method they use to join. I know a few 'guests' who've changed their names and stuck round - I think we just don't tend to notice because they pop up with a new handle as a relative newbie, and we don't connect that person with a 'Guest-something-or-other' who posted a day ago.

I know I had a lot of trouble when I changed my username - to get my new one to work I had to clear all of my browsing data.

When I joined I had to have a user name to post...as I remember. Now with all the Guest users most seem to post a question & then disappear or stay for a bit but not get involved. I don't usually read or comment on their posts as there are so many of them & don't know 1 from another...It's not that hard to make up a name if you want to join a forum.

If you open ohbaby not signed in, a box comes up asking you to join the community, and only asks for your email. I wonder if that just gives an automatic 'guest_23424'
