What about an experience of some sort? Something like a term of swimming lessons, or dance lessons?

I'm sure my kids have far too many toys, beginning to rotate them a bit more so they all get played with eventually. One present which wasn't really a toy but is always out & being used is the little arm chair that the grandparents gave my daughter for her 3rd birthday, it's a similar style as our lounge suite (covered in corduroy type fabric) & she loves having her own wee place to sit.

For our DD's 3rd birthday I got her a special doll (Fisher Price Little Mommy sweet as me, you can get them at KMart for about $30, they are really lovely!) and we got her some colouring pencils, a Buckaroo game, and playdough.
My mum got her a doctor's dressing up kit with all the doctor stuff and that has been a huge hit!

The table and chairs and a dress up box are great ideas.

My 3year old is really crafty so I made her up her own scrap booking box for her 3rd birthday. Its got glitter pens, stickers, scissors, felts, glitter pens, different colored paper, cellophane, glue, pictures (from magazines, old cards etc) letters (from magazines, cut up). You could also add pipe cleaners etc.   I got shoe boxes and covered them with duraseal and a cane basket that fits under her bed to out all the boxes in.

I've just put an order in at book depository for both my girls for Xmas.

I love books as gifts and that's what we are getting DD for Christmas.

you can get some good crayons and felts etc and if you dont do colouring books then maybe some writing pads. This year for Eden i have got her a backpack from K Mart that has some colurng stuff in it.
Also magna doodles are great for them. All my kids have loved them and the older kids play with them when they visit too.
of course there is the whole play doh range, or moon dough. i love the seedlings range of stuff for crafty things. Also musical instruments are good. One of Dd favourite presents was a little flower shaped hand/shoulder bag that had a comb, hanky, paper, pen, little purse with coins in and an old cell phone. Her Nana did it for her and she always plays with it.

What about some biscuit cutters , rolling pin etc to help you or 'bake' with playdough.

Im trying to think of some present ideas for DD for Xmas & Birthday.

She has heaps of toys and she never plays with them. So ive decided im not buying her any toys this year. She will get the odd ones from family so thats enough.

For those that try avoid buying toys what do you buy instead??
