There is a calculator on the Working for families website you can use to check your entitlement (it gave me a figure of $65 so may be a bit out). <br /><br />With WFF you can choose to be assessed annually, so if you don't need that money to survive week to week, you can get assessed at the end of the financial year and would get a lump sum as opposed to weekly payments (good option if you're not sure what your income will be for the year). <br /><br />As for other options to increase the cashflow - I believe you can now (as of April?) cash up your fourth week of annual leave which may give you a bit of a boost for buying things you need or putting aside. <br /><br />Congrats on the twins - have bene following your progress in a lurking-but-not-creepy kind of way<img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0"> ]]>

They back paid everything and we received 12k from the government.  Which was lucky because I had a huge credit card to pay off due to thinking we missed the boat with the payments.  That 12k included the $1200, you don't miss out if you go past the 8 week mark, but maybe you do need to wait til end of financial year if you don't claim in the first 8 weeks????]]>

(That is just minimum the law requires if you're lucky your work might supply more) And I mean having a baby physically, adopting is different again.<br />]]>

The handout I have (I've just been filling out all the forms and applying for things for the first time) says "You can get this paymet for eight weeks after a new baby arrives.  You can receive up to $1200 depending on your family income.  BUT it doesn't say anything about whether you can get it as well as PPL or WFF etc.  I was going to ring them about it today in anticipation of next baby so I'll let you know.]]>

I know they've got bub's birth certificate<br /><br />Don't think we'll be entitled to a accommodation suppliment cos we've got pretty cheap rent but I'll check. My sister said when she had her wee one 4 years ago, she got maternity pay and also a payment of like $1200 when she got an IRD number for her daughter.
