Thanks ladies. I sure hope it goes smoothly. I know the specialist said its rear taking tonsils out at such a young age. I guess time will tell.

Can't talk as a parent, but I had my adenoids out at 18mths Mum said I was really good about it, even tho I was the shyest thing out. We had no complications. I had my tonsils at 10 and had bleeding issues about 5 days later, we also lived a long drive from the hospital. My son had his adenoids out just before he was 2. Adenoids is much easier than tonsils though so not much help i'm afraid. He was a bit off for a few days but nothing major. If you hadn't known he'd had an op you wouldn't have known.

He handled the day itself really well. He had known for ages that he was going to have his nose fixed and was quite interested in it.

It's hard handing the care of your baby over to strangers. I can't tell you anything about a 2 year old getting it done, but i went thru the same procedures about 4 years ago.
From what i understand, it is alot harder on a bigger person then a little one. The recovery nearly killed me it was so painful (althou i'm still impending my first labour)
Surgery wise, the most risk is really with the anesthetic (as with any general, it puts them to sleep)

Important to stay close to a hospital, i honestly couldn't tell any difference a week later then i could the day i left there, it stays very raw for at least 2 weeks and excess couching can cause a bleed. ( a little blood the first 3 days is likely)
At least getting them out now your bubs wont ever remember it and will never have ongoing problems.

Posting this in here in the hope more people will see it.

Anyone here who has had a child go through this under the age of 2?

My DD will be having her's removed next month. She also suffers severe reflux which is the cause for her acute tonsillitis.

We live in a small town and have been advised to move to a larger center within half hour of a major hospital for 3 weeks just in case of bleed out.

Would love to hear some stories from people of how their little ones coped with the opp and what to expect from this.
