BriAndOlisMum I know what you mean, first appointment was $220 and then $120 each time after, for all the follow up appointments we have been in and out in like 5 minutes, and you feel guilty to ask too many questions as its clear he's rushing you through. At the beginning we had to go each week for about 3 weeks then every few months, luckily we don't have to go again now till tests at 1 year.

You can only get the authority number for the subsidy through a paed though and usually only for 6-12 months so when it runs out you might be forced to see the paed to get it renewed as the GP can write scripts without it but you would have to pay full price for the tins, which use to be $85 a tin but probably dearer now.

wiggly_jiggly he is expensive aye. our first appointment was over $200 then the next few wore $100, then they put it up twice. I haven't been back since they put it up the second time, especially cos it was even more expensive cos we now live in Rotorua so were travelling all that way for a 5 min consultation. I am just going to take Oliver to the doc next week and see if he can re-prescribe it for him, and hopefully he can get some RAST tests too through him

BriandOlisMum, yes it is hehe I saw him today and he said that we can get the GP to prescribe it next time, so the ladies on the phone were wrong. Grr. Lucky we needed to see him anyway so it wasn't a trip just to get a prescription that would have been a very pricy prescription for sure lol.

Hi , your gp can re-do the script once they have the authority number, information that should be provided to them by your pead, however your pharmisist will have the number too (its really for them for funding. so you can get it off them to give to doctor, or they can contact each other. Lucky, I rung my paed and they said I had to come in, I think they just want my money lol so we're going on Monday. The GP will give you the scripts up til when the year or 6 months I think it is now?? I just phoned up, picked it up & dropped it at the chemist.

I'm going through the process of renewing our authority at the moment & I think it's all done through the GP ??? The nurse rang me the other day re the script & she was filling out a questionnaire according to the reception that I spoke to. The year will be for the authority number which is what GPs can't authorise and that is to get the pharmac funding cos it's bloody expensive without it. Do you always have to go back to the paed that prescribed Neocate once you have a prescription/number, or can you get your GP to do it? As I need some more neocate but I can't afford to go to the paed before we're going to need it... so yeah if my GP can prescribe it that would be helpful... anyone know?
