Whats muscle testing, sounds rather interesting? Does it help with getting rid of eczema? I would be interested in more information if you have any...

cool thanks for all the advise, Kel I might go check that guy out and see about doing the muscle test. What do they do, hang a crystal over them and see what way it spins or something?

I have had it done for both my daughters and I am undecided as to how effective they are. DD1 was 2 at the time; we did it through a naturopath, and it confirmed some allergens that were known to us already, and others I suspected - so I don't think they're complete codswallap (our paediatrician's opinion!). However it didn't say soy and she gets a rash (and sometimes vomits) from soy. We found eliminating the foods was successful, however, at the same time we also followed the naturopath's advice such as a heavy dose of probiotics, slippery elm powder, no refined sugar etc.

With DD2 she was only a month or two old and I did it out of desperation after the RAST didn't pick anything up, and I wasn't having much luck with elimination diets (as I was breastfeeding). And I don't think that test was very accurate at all, although we are still in the early days with the solids.

We did it, and only 6 things came back, 2 food related, and 4 environmental including diesel, mould, one of the washing powders we were using and goat hair (odd)

But sure enough we took those out, and things helped clear up. We combined the hair test with blood allergy tests which showed something that did not show up on the hair test.

We just had one done on my boy, and its come back with intolerance's to a few things. I had it done as DS had eczema/rash on his face.
I'm now going to try and get a blood test done to see if that comes back with similar results. In regards to wheat/gluten.
So it will be interesting to see if those results correlate.
Also it said he had an intolerance to tomatoes, which is visible the moment he eats it-sauce etc, his face goes red and blotchy.
I think you have to open to the fact that it's a little bit 'out there'. And go from there. I wasn't happy with my drs opinion, of oh its just a bit of eczema here's some hydro-cortisone cream to use. (and 1% at that-which is not ok to use on the eye area!) Oh you're in Rotorua...go see the Rotorua Naturopath clinic. We travel up from PN to see him. He can do hair testing but he'll do the muscle testing right there & then.

Just go in with an open mind cause it does look weird. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm we had a hair test done for Clodagh and it came back as lactase only...and it's pretty much right lol. We saw a naturopath though who swung a crystal over her and deemed her allergic to everything and have also had skin prick tests. I agree with peachy....if we all got our hair tested there would be a ridiculously long list of things on there (my brother had it done and he was allergic to literally EVERYTHING!!). My DS had excema so we took him to a naturopath who specialised in muscle testing (Allergy Pathway in Mairangi Bay). I had one done on my DD to find out what was triggering her eczema. TBH the report came back with 6 pages of stuff she was allergic to, infact the report said she was allergic to practically every food known to man!!! She would have starved if I had of cut out everything from her diet on the list!!

I then went and got testing through an allergy specialist and it came back that she was highly allergic to cats and thats all.
