Whatever you do, don't go near Maternity Direct. Have you had a look at Asos.com? Free worldwide shipping and the exchange rate is fab at the moment. I'm gutted I didn't find this site until after I have no use for maternity clothes! These are a few nursing dresses I found under the sale section:

I managed to score a cheap maternity wrap dress at Savemart- have you thought about trying somewhere like that?
I also have bought a dress from Mummy Maternity for a wedding- there's not a huge range but I was lucky to find something in my size that I love.

I was a bridesmaid while breastfeeding and our dresses were strapless. I just took a big tshirt with me...when it came to feeding time, I put the tshirt on over my dress then undid the dress and folded it down to my waist under the tshirt. worked perfectly! There are some options at Pregoli. It's an online business located in Chch though so you wouldn't be able to try before you buy...could return/exchange though if it wasn't what you wanted.

Also - what about Egg Maternity?
